About this house rental

This is a newly remodeled, 1800sq ft home situated on beautiful Turtle Creek outside of Kerrville, Texas. It has breathtaking views and a large covered porch overlooking the water. The master bedroom features a king- sized bed, flat screen TV, and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. Bedroom number 2 has a queen- sized bed and bedroom number 3 has two twins with flat screen TV with DVD player. There is a washer and dryer in a separate laundry room. The kitchen has conventional and microwave ovens. Keurig coffee maker, blender, mixer, crockpot, etc. There is a covered BBQ area with a charcoal pit and picnic table. Free WiFi.There are two paddle boards, a kayak and several tubes that come with this property.

What a gem! Green everywhere. Serenity with nature watching the birds and squirrels from the porch. The water is crystal clear. The little fish swam around us peacefully. The house was clean and comfortable. So many good amenities. Spacious and several sitting areas. We felt rejuvenated for sure over the weekend.

We throughly enjoyed our time at this property! It was a wonderful experience. The water was so clear. Fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding was great. We were so thankful for all of the amenities the property had. Watching the deer on a daily and nightly basis just out the front door was neat for the whole family. The kids are already talking about going back again!

Time with family is so important so I offered my daughter and daughter-in-law a retreat to the hill country as a birthday getaway. Lori was an exceptional host by making sure we had great water to play in and a welcoming gift inside a lovely clean home on the creek! There were paddle boards and a kayak with oars at the ready for us to enjoy the water activities. My daughter-in-law tried out the paddle board and learned something new. My daughter decided the kayak was more her style and enjoyed doing that and they spent some fun time together on the creek. There was everything we needed and especially having a wall of windows to view the creek, cypress trees, hummingbirds, and deer was sooooo relaxing. That is what I had hoped for as these young women are mothers with children and work responsibilities and husbands and all the stress that can come with those roles in life! We got up ate breakfast there at the house but enjoyed a dinner in Kerrville at Billy Gene's. I spent some money at James Avery Silversmith because there was a terrific sale going on there! The best part of our stay was the creek activities, watching the hummingbirds, the comfortable home environment, and the many deer that stood in the front yard and ran through the backyard. Just being outside of the city environment was a great recharge for us. We even talked about returning in a cooler time to enjoy what Cypress Flats had to offer. Lori Brown took just the most thoughtful care as our host.

We arrived to this sweet, quaint river house and were immediately greeted by hummingbirds and deer. It could not have been more perfect. The cliffs overlooking the water are beautiful and the entire property is extremely well-kept and clean. My family enjoyed catch and release fishing off the dock, swimming in the crystal clear water, and spending time together in the peacefulness of this sweet home. The host was super friendly with many suggestions. The home itself was clean and had everything we needed and the beds were comfortable! This home had a very comforting and welcoming feel. We will absolutely be back to recharge when we visit TX again.

This property was perfect for children ages 3 and 9. The swimming dock in the middle of the creek is ideal for that age. Fishing was fun for that age as most of the fish were small. Catch and release worked well. Serious fishermen will want to be on deeper water. Great lawn leading down to a nice creekside patio. The house was cozy and comfortable and well stocked. The host was very responsive and helpful.

This property was perfect for our family. The owners have cleared the riverbed in front of their property of vegetation and provide a wonderful floating platform with a ladder attached. Our 5 and 6 year old grandkids had a ball jumping off into the river. There are plenty of river toys provided including kayaks and paddles and swim noodles. There are even fishing poles. The owners have gone to great lengths to make your stay comfortable in every way.

Beautiful surroundings! Crystal clear water with easy access. We spent time sitting on the porch and watching the humming birds, cardinals and squirrels. Totally private and peaceful. The house has everything you could need . Bring food and drink and you will never have to leave the property. The grandsons loved having their own bedrooms. They also loved the dependable wifi. This was our second stay at Tortuga Frio and it has become our favorite place for fun and relaxation.

Our family of two adults and four kids (ages three to eight) had a fantastic time. The house was very clean and well stocked. The view was gorgeous and it was so nice being right on Turtle Creek. We all enjoyed swimming, floating, jumping off the floating dock, fishing and watching the turtle. Lori was a great host and good communicator. Would definitely stay here again.

This place is a gem. We had plans to explore the area but just ended up hanging out by the water, fishing, swimming and playing with kayaks and paddle boards all day. One of the most relaxing trips we've had. We will definitely be back!

This was a perfect mini vacation for my family. Beautiful rental all the way around. House was very clean and nicely decorated. Turtle Creek was crystal clear with huge rock bluffs. If you are wanting to get away and enjoy the peace and quiet of nature, this is the place. My 8 yr old son had the best time fishing. The yard was perfectly manicured all the way down to the creek. Huge trees shaded the yard. The porch was great to sit and relax and watch the birds come to the feeders. The view of the creek from the porch was beautiful as well. We were definitely not disappointed and would recommend this rental to anyone that is looking to book a place with live water.

The location on Turtle Creek is amazing. The water is crystal clear. We did not swim because it wasn’t warm enough. My husband enjoyed kayaking. It was so relaxing just to sit by the water. The house itself feels smaller than the square footage due to an odd layout with a galley style kitchen. It was great for the 3 of us, but I think it would feel crowded with 6 people unless you spend a lot of time outside. The kitchen is well stocked, with the exception of cereal/rice bowls. There were very flat soup bowls and some plastic cereal bowls. I’m glad I brought food storage containers from home because there were not any bowls for that - unless I just couldn’t find them. There were mixing bowls that I used several times.

We are very careful selecting where do we stay in our trips, and this VRBO promised from what we read on previous reviews. When we got to the cabin, we were positively surprised, it was better than the pictures and the reviews. My family enjoyed the privacy of the location, the immacualte condition of the cabin and the property, the cabin layout, and the amazing backyard area. We are coming back for sure, Lori Brown was amazing as a host, thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful place!

Enjoyed our stay, house on smaller side but perfectly adequate for my husband, me and three kids. The creek is barricaded just a couple houses down on both sides so a little short for kayaking but we did enjoy playing in the cool water and reading on the patio. Water shoes might be helpful as the creek bottom by the entry is a bit rocky.

We stayed at Tortuga Frio on a return road trip to MD Anderson for my Dad. The property was perfect for some quality time cooking and sitting down by the water fishing with Dad. The property is well maintained, stocked with all the needed amenities and had special touches from a caring host. It is the small things sometimes; extra toilet paper, salt and pepper, coffee and a sense that the hosts want you to feel at home in their home. Great river location in a very private setting. This is a well maintained property with all of the amenities provided. The water is crystal clear, and the swimming platform is great. There is beautiful mowed St. Augustine grass from the house to the river and the entire river front was trimmed, so no critters hiding on the shoreline. The fish there are crafty. It will take your best fishing skills to get one on the line. We were happy to do catch and release, but the "catch" part was definitely the more difficult of the two. Took us about 10 minutes to get into Kerville. It's a beautiful drive so no problem. 30-40 minutes to Fredricksburg. Will definitely do this again.

My family of 6 stayed at Tortuga Frio over the Labor Day weekend. The house is spotless, well stocked and very comfortable for 6 adults. We stayed in for most meals and the kitchen has every thing you need. The water is clear and the location is beautiful and peaceful.

We absolutely LOVED our stay here! It is such a relaxing, peaceful , beautiful place. Loved all of the water toys, and the fish are super friendly, lo! Except when I wanted them to bite on my fishing hook!! We had no cell service outside of the house which was a huge plus!! We'll definitely be back! The owner is very responsive so any questions we had she got right back to us which was great!

What a beautiful waterfront property! If you’re not hanging out down at the waterfront, the porch has great bird watching opportunities especially with your morning coffee! Then after dark, you can see so many stars and fire flies down on the waterfront. A very special treat - we will be back!

This place is immaculate, private and peaceful. We really enjoyed the very private creek front which was great for swimming and fishing. The water toys were a plus for us! We got to enjoy them without having to buy for a one time use. Enjoyed drinking coffee on the patio and watching the hummingbirds, deer and well manicured yard.
