NOTE -- Please give us an ACCURATE number of Adults and Children in your group. Our Listing states that we sleep / have beds for 25. That assumes some children in your group. Limit of beds for adults (including older teens) is about 18 including blow up and bottom bunks. If you bring more adults, you may have to provide additional bedding. We have beds for at least 25 (maybe more) that includes top bunks, cots, couches and/or fold-outs for kids.
Our houses are not run by a property management company, but is a family business. We live close by on the Texas Coast and equip our houses with everything we want for when we stay there. No cast off or "hand me down" mattresses. All are good quality for when we and our friends and family stay there.
Whether you are interested in birding, boating, fishing or simply watching the sun set, The Sunset Bay Escape has it! The Sunset Bay Escape is a 7 bedroom house located on Port Bay near Rockport, Texas. Port Bay is a back bay off of Copano Bay in the Texas Coast with EXCELLENT fishing. We have caught over 40 fish in one evening off the fishing pier.
This house is not a canal home but a BAY home and fully equipped with EVERYTHING you might need for your stay. You need only bring you self, food and clothes. We provide everything else including all linens, towels, pans, dishes, etc. There are not 5 cups, glasses and plates here. There is PLENTY of good plate, pans and utensils. If something necessary is missing, let us know. There is a high-quality Pit Boss Grill with Propane, Charcoal and built in Smoker.
We are KID and PET FRIENDLY!!! We have 5 kids of our own and have tried to include all the things to keep the kids entertained.
When you are at The Sunset Bay Escape, if feels like you are a million miles from civilization, but you are only 8 minutes to a Super Walmart! You drive through a lot of ranch land and then, suddenly, you emerge in a Jewel of a place on a wonderful, isolated bay.
The Sunset Bay Escape is a luxurious three story house that has two full kitchens - one upstairs and one downstairs! It has a large Master Suite upstairs with an oversized tiled shower and large Jacuzzi tub. There are four bedrooms on the second floor with two being Masters and two more bedrooms on the ground floor. Enjoy our Five Large Flat-Screen TV’s and three Blu-Ray DVD players using our collection of DVDs. For the little ones, we have a play set out back.
Right out the back door is Port Bay and your own 350 foot lighted pier with direct access to the water. Port Bay is full of redfish, shark, trout, flounder, gafftops, whiting, croakers, sheepheads and drum. There is no commercial fishing in the Bay so fishing is GOOD! Kayaks/rafts and basic fishing gear provided as well as bright fishing lights on the pier. Don't forget to look for the dolphins!
Bring your boat! There is a boat launch very close by, and you can tie it up to our pier. Also, with your boat, you have easy access to Copano Bay, considered by all to have some of the best fishing on the Texas Coast! We now have a 18 ft. wide driveway so you can park on one side of the drive way and still get in and out on the other sire AND to accommodate larger vehicles and boats.
For the wildlife enthusiast, there is an abundance of wildlife in the area. You can see deer, raccoon, possum, turkey, rabbit and other wild animals in and around the area. Rockport has several Wildlife areas in and around town.
For the birding enthusiast, this area is teaming with a large variety of bird species including Black-necked Stilts, Ibis, Rosette Spoonbills, Reddish Egrets, Gull and Tern species, Least Turns, Rails and Snipe, wintering Geese, Sandhill Cranes, Brown Pelicans and White-tailed Hawks. You might even see endangered Peregrine Falcons or Wood Storks.
On Lamar Peninsula just across the Copano Bay Causeway you can see wintering Whooping Cranes and the BIG Tree near the shores of St. Charles Bay. There are a number of birding sites within a few miles of the house including Goose Island State Park also on Lamar Peninsula. Rockport is a short drive away with a nice sandy city beach, museums, shopping, great places to eat (plus a few dives) and antiques. Go to https://www.rockport-fulton.org/51-Things-To-Do for a list of a LOT more things to do and place to see around Rockport!
Port Aransas is also close by for a good day trip to the Gulf of Mexico.
Unfortunately, we do not allow 'Events' such as weddings or other large parties. Gatherings at the house are strictly limited to those guests staying at the house.
The Sunset Bay Escape is a Family Friendly location. No corporate retreats or other such gatherings allowed. We only allow Family Gatherings. All persons must be related by blood, marriage or other family connection as required by our HOA Rules.
Add $225.00 Cleaning Fee to all Rentals
Sadly, VRBO adds their own fees. Can't do anything about that.
Add 15% Tax to all Rentals. Can't fight Uncle Sam.

Great house! Great fishing! It was just what we needed to celebrate our sons birthday and relax with friends and family. Wish the weather would have held up for Saturday but out of our control.

The house was in good condition. There was no gas in the bbq grill so we ended up cooking everything on the stove. No biggie. I would recommend this place to those looking to do a little fishing on the pier and just get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The house was a perfect size for all of us to have plenty of space and the view right out the back door is heavenly. We could see sunrises and sunsets. We were great distance from stores and plenty to do. I would highly recommend.

Overall, the house, location and amenities are great. Communication with the owner was good, but did not result in anything being resolved during our stay. Our group consisted of 10 adults and 6 kids. Space was never a problem. Having two kitchen areas really helped with meal preparation. We enjoyed fishing from the pier and using the kayaks.
Unfortunately, there were way too many issues to rate our stay any better than 3 star. Here's a partial list of things we encountered: We arrived after check-in but were unable to enter house because cleaning crew was there. Once inside had to deal with fly infestation. We killed over 60 flies in our first 3 hours. The three commercial trashcans were overflowing, so had to put our trash in garage for two days. Second floor ceiling has significant water damage staining and taping is peeling. Lots of lights out all over house. First floor coffee maker is missing parts and dishwasher needs work. We had to buy our own bath soap, laundry detergent and measuring cups. Smoke detector went off at 5:00 AM for no reason. Outdoor shower doesn't work. House guidebook is out of date. Internet went out our last day. I wasted time calling the carrier only to discover the account was discontinued over a year ago. First and second floor sinks drain slow. No lock on one bathroom. Cheap can opener that barely works, not enough kitchen towels. Lamp with no connector, just bare wire.
For what it costs to stay here, it's reasonable to expected better.
