About this house rental
Montlake is a unique mountain lake formed millions of years ago. It is one of the very few natural lakes in Tennessee. Our Montlake Retreat is a very spacious home with about 20 acres of wooded grounds. There are trails around the lake, and there is a waterfall directly across the lake from the terrace. We are family-oriented, but also welcome special interest groups, such as rock climbers, sports teams, fishermen (up to three boats), weddings, reunions. etc.
Montlake has four bedrooms, four baths, living room, library, great room/dining room, kitchen, and laundry room. There are two fireplaces (library and great room) and a large deck above the terrace. It is a long, rambling house, so there is plenty of privacy for everyone. The master bath has a jetted tub and separate shower, as well as a large walk-in closet and bidet. The other three baths have toilets, sinks, and tub-showers. The laundry room has large capacity (front-loading) washer and dryer. The terrace overlooks the lake and is a pleasant place to bask in the sun or gather around a campfire. Added bonus for the kids: If you hike all the way around the lake, you are entitled to ring the antique bell!

We had 9 people in our party, and there was plenty of room for everyone. Everything was as advertised. I would recommend this place to my family and friends.

The house was big enough for my family of 12 to stay comfortably from age 1 to 63. The house was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The art work is beautiful and the library has some very interesting books. The back patio that leads out to the waterfall is so peaceful and serene that we ended up spending most of our time there. The host is very responsive and nice. If you are looking for a calm, relaxing place to stay, I highly recommend this rental.

The home has a lot of space and very nice for large groups. We were unable to hike around the lake due to inclement weather throughout our stay. We were really looking forward to exploring the beautiful area around the home. The waterfall can be viewed from the back door. So pretty. One con is the pillows. They are very firm. There is a basketball goal which was great in between the rain showers. The hosts are very responsive and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay. We had four kiddos and five adults. Plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen has plenty of pots, pans, plates, cups, glasses, tableware. etc. Four bathrooms was great!

Fun place to stay for the nature lover. It would have been perfect had the gazebo been usable and the path around and to the lake cleared. We were still able to get to the lake but it took a little work getting the inflatables and gear down there. The property owner did say that she's looking for a grounds keeper to clear the path that was impeded by downed trees from the ice storm. That was no fault of theirs...just what nature does. We will definitely be back and would recommend to others. Just make sure the paths are clear before booking, if hiking or boating is what draws you here to this nature paradise. We loved the home, the artistry of the paintings throughout the house, and the huge terrace with firepit.
