About this cottage rental
If you are looking for a relaxing mountain getaway, with great views, on a paved road that is convenient to entertainment, restaurants, and shopping, then this is the place for you! We are located on Appalachian Ski Mountain, between Boone and Blowing Rock, 0.3 miles to the slopes at Appalachian Ski resort and 1.8 miles to the Blue Ridge Parkway. This mountain cottage is divided into 2 rental units, each with separate outside entrances. This listing is for 'Tranquility', the larger of the 2 units. If you are vacationing with friends or extended family and need more space, our smaller unit, "Serenity" - listing #676463, is also available.
'Tranquility' offers beautiful long range mountain views from the main living areas and covered deck. It is equipped with central heat/air, is fully furnished, has a well-equipped kitchen, separate dining room with seating for 6, a spacious living room with a stone fireplace with gas logs, and a large (50-55”) flat screen TV. The home is approximately 1800 sq. ft., and is a 2-story 2 bedroom 2.5 bath (will sleep 6 in beds and 8 with the use of 2 pull-out sofas). The kitchen, living room, dining room, guest half bath, and one bedroom are on the main ground floor. This bedroom is equipped with a king size bed, flat screen TV with NetFlix, and an attached bath with a tub/shower combination. The livingroom, with mountain view and deck, has a queen size pull-out sofa. Downstairs is the master bedroom, large family/game room, and utility room. The master bedroom has a mountain view, is equipped with a king size bed and flat screen TV with NetFlix, and has an attached master bath with jacuzzi style garden tub and separate shower. Outside the master is a large family room/game room area, with mountain view and deck, and is equipped with 2 extra-long twin size beds and a queen size pull-out sofa. There is paved access and parking for a maximum of 2 cars. Sorry, no smoking, no pets.

We really enjoyed staying at the Deer Ridge cottage to see the leaves changing! It is close to downtown Blowing Rock, the entrance to the Parkway, Appalachian Ski Mountain, and other attractions. The layout is perfect, and all necessary amenities provided. Will stay again!

I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to spend some time skiing at Appalachian. The information on the website said it was nearby, and they weren't kidding. We just drove out the driveway, turned right, and were there in minutes.
The rental itself was very spacious. Two bedrooms, plus the twin beds in the open family room in the basement, gave us all plenty of space to spread out and have some privacy. We visited with a family of four, but I also think this would be ideal for a couple traveling with young children and grandparents, as the young couple and their children could have the downstairs and the grandparents have the upstairs.
It's also a prime location for visiting Tweetsie!

We were so pleased that the snow plow came and kept the roads clear for driving, even during the Orlena Winter storm. I left some bird seed and saw lots of animal tracks below the deck. Loved the two separate living areas and so did my 17 and 22 yr. old. Sound proofing is a bit of an issue. We did get one of the fireplaces working briefly so that might neet to be looked at but we were plenty warm in the cold temperatures. The Kuerig and regular coffee makers need to be replaced. We made due with the coffee maker, but the basket is missing as well as the lid to the pot. We enjoyed Tubing not far away. The grocery store is really close and we bought too much, and ended up taking some home. We really enjoyed the games and extras. We would stay there again.
