The property layout, swimming pool, beautiful tranquil gem of a location coupled with the amazing staff! Our heaven!
There’s nothing we didn’t like though I wish there was a little more choice of food menu options!

Beautiful estate, with rooms in the middle of nature. You can really rest well here. Service was top notch. They went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant.
The roads leading up to the property are a bit tricky, especially at night, but that’s something that can be easily overcome.

The most special place overlooking the ocean high up. Very secluded and gorgeous. In natura but very luxurious

Cocolia exceeded our expectations! We were worried about visiting during rainy season, but we lucked out with the weather. Yes, there were mosquitos and other jungle bugs, but we learned to co-exist. The team went above and beyond to make our stay special. We loved the roar of the ocean and the open view to the jungle and the ocean beyond— and we especially loved the open-air shower. Thank you to the staff for your kindness! We can’t wait to come back.
We knew this going in, but it’s not very convenient to get in and out of town or to the beach, but this wasn’t an issue for us. The road in would be difficult in a normal car- if you’re renting, make sure to get an SUV!

The pictures look nice, but totally uncomfortable. The yoga place and the small pool are good.
My mistake was to not fully read the negative reviews. Please, read other testimonials before booking.
The first comments on Booking were that the place is amazing, but far from reality, those reviews don't cover the whole experience. The road to arrive to the place is uphill and hard rough, not good for sedan cars. I missed to read that the place doesn't have A/C to have a fresh room, so I was mostly sweating all the time inside the room. The ceiling fan made too much noise and it certainly did not help to improve the temperature. I had to put a fan inside the bed to refresh, otherwise the mosquito net impedes the air coming through if the fan is outside. The mosquito net does help to reduce bugs coming in, but it was complicated to keep it closed, it needs some Velcro. Plus, if you wake up in the middle of the night to go to the toilette, it is uncomfortable to open it to go outisde. The wall next to the main door is made of bricks that has spaces open to the outside, so obviously bugs can come in from that place. I had some ants walking, and a small spider next to the hand washer. Also a cricket jumped from the main courtains. If you have light sleep, the bugs sound at night will disturb your sleep. The big pool is next to the restaurant, but personally, I won't feel comfortable swimming next to it. At the restaurant I asked for an Horchata with Cacao, that thing tasted like dirty water, the waiter just mentioned that it is a prefabricated powder and offered to change it for a chocolate which was way better. That must be removed totally. We booked for 4 nights, but decided to leave after the third night. I did not got a reimbursement of the pending night. They were "open to negotiate" to reimburse only one night of my friends' booking. I mentioned that my reservation was separate from my friends, and since I am only staying 3 nights, 3 nights is what I should be charged for.

It was very beautiful and great value for money! Lovely staff, especially Abi! The shower!!! Good food included the corn chips and guacamole, pancakes, crusted fresh fish. The hot cacao! Loved the welcome drink.
You are very at one with nature and so there are a lot of bugs - nothing the hotel can do but just beware that the bugs can impede relaxation. Food was a bit hit or miss

The staff was very friendly and welcoming, even bringing us an extra fan at 10pm. The swimming pools and grounds were beautiful, with great views of the ocean. It was a quiet and peaceful place, with the sound of the waves in the distance.
It was a little more jungle than we anticipated. We knew the rooms were open, but didn't expect huge crickets in all our clothes, seeing tarantulas and scorpions in our room. We kept everything zipped up in our suitcase as to avoid critters. It was also a little further from town than we'd thought. The road up from town was very bad --so bad that taxis would not drive up it, but would drive all the way around the back way instead. We did walk down to Mermejita Beach, but it was very bleak and you cannot swim there.

This place is so perfect, it’s hard to describe in words. Not only does it look like something out of a design magazine, but it also makes you feel deeply connected to the surrounding nature—nature that is fully respected and remains the true protagonist of the stay. Despite being “lost in the forest,” it offers an incredible number of facilities, making it comfortable even for those who may not be used to being so close to nature. My favorite part was the sound of the ocean throughout the day and night.
The restaurant is excellent and reasonably priced. The hosts are super nice and welcoming—Abi, in particular, really made us feel taken care of. I honestly can’t think of a single thing that could be improved. Can’t recommend it enough!

Great relaxing vacation, barely left the hotel, highly recommend. The room and hotel grounds were beautiful and comfy, in touch with nature, but the best part was 10/10 service! The manager Isidro and all the staff really made sure we enjoyed our stay, they were more than accommodating, felt like a customized experience. Food also good, pool areas relaxing
Nothing - beach access about 10 min walk, town can be accessed

Incredible welcome from the manager, Every member of staff was amazing, in particular Jahir and Isidro! The food was out of this world, try the crispy tacos! Incredible views! We intended to stay 1 night and within the first hour extended our stay. 1000% recommend, this place is heads and shoulders above the competition!
We had a visitor one evening (scorpion in the bathroom). This was expertly handled by Jahir so no issues and a bit of wildlife was to be expected.

Magical stay in the hillside above Mazunte, gorgeous views over the beach and sea. It was really private with individual bungalows, each with a lovely balcony and a shower with a great view. You could star-gaze from bed, and I really loved the decor. The restaurants were amazing, I particularly loved the Mezcaleria for sunset cocktails. We did morning yoga in the Shala and loved the seawater pools. A lovely relaxing venue, for a chill moment. The staff were so attentive and easy to use WhatsApp to pre book taxis and order the coffee ritual (highly recommend) to our room in the morning. Thank you so much to Isidro and team for a wonderful stay.

Cocolia felt like arriving to a cocoon of calmness! Everything was exceptional! The bed was so
comfortable, the sound of the ocean made you feel like you were immersed in it! The staff was very attentive and the food delicious! Be aware that this hotel is very secluded, walking to town would be 20mins off-road. Not a hassle if you are prepared, rather nice to have the feeling of being one with nature.

Amazing architecture. Very clever detailing and use of materials. Super nice manager who went above and beyond to be helpful and fun to chat with.
The walk into town was VERY far and made it hard to relax at times. The website wasn’t very transparent about the walking distance to town. We timed it, it takes 25-30 mins to walk at a normal speed.

Isidro, the host, was super kind and friendly.

The rooms are spectacular! Great view and definitely a unique experience.
The facility is somewhere between luxury and ‘natural’ It has the luxury hotel price but the facilities are rather mediocre. Breakfast is really poor. Considering it is at such a remote location and costs a hefty sum, they should find a way to provide more value to the price.

It was simply wonderful !

The resort itself was very unique and a great place to just turn off as it’s far away from the town. The pool area was cool and the rooms were lovely.
The location is hard to get to amd some taxis will not venture up the savage dirt road. Ideally a truck or a jeep would be best. But it is really bumpy.

Hearing the waves crash in the beach at night. the bed was comfortable and the pool was nice.
The service was VERY slow and the food was inconsistent. The manager was surprisingly unhelpful for someone working in hospitality. I’ve spent a lot of time in Mexico and this was the worst service I’ve experienced by far. the property, while beautiful, is considerably overpriced for what it is particularly given the poor service.

My wife and I had a great stay at the Cocolia! We arrived late and night just before the restaurant was closing, but appreciated how attentive the staff was to us!
The property and rooms are really beautiful. You could hear the waves crashing on the beach below, and sleeping in a mosquito net (which worked really well) was pretty novel. Loved showering outside too!
Staff was great. In particular, the manager of the hotel even came to pick me and my wife up in town on NYE after we couldn't find a cab back :)

the location is very isolated and complexe to access. the place is not charming and very far from the photo
i didn’t like thé place at all it was bad vibe, isolated and not similar go thé photo . don’t go without a car or a scooter

Everything you need fit in to an architectually and aesthatically well designed room. Or rather a small hut, which each stands by itself with a lot of privacy. Wooden sliding doors give you access to a small terrace and a view on the ocean even from the shower and your bed. The staff, espacially the manager, was exceptionally friendly and helpful with any questions.
Despite the friendly staff and the good food, the service sometimes could have been faster. But that‘s really nitpicking just because there is also a field about „what we didn‘t like“ :)

Amazing view from the room. The room was very clean and the staffs were nice. Although slightly hard to get to, but totally worth the trip. Super underrated hotel.
A bit overpriced…

the distance from the hotel to the beach it’s not a matter however it’s not close from the beach.

amazing property, spacious, private. Excellent experience if you need a detoxification from all!
Internet is not good. Yes, you will be in the middle of the jungle. Food can improve: gluten free, vegan and sugar free options can be added to the menu

The location of the hotel is unique. Being in the middle of the jungle was an adventure. The breakfast was good and the staff was very friendly.
If you're scared of insects skip it. We had two scorpions and several spiders in our room. Since the rooms don't have A/C the nights tend to be very hot.
