Great resort and area for families with kids of all ages.

I'm going to be honest with you and tell you that I would have cancelled this trip if I could have because of the pandemic. I have never had to cancel a trip before but this has taught me to never book a place with a "no cancellation" policy again. To be fair, it was clearly stated so I have only myself to blame. Danielle was very easy to communicate with and he certainly responded quickly to all my emails. This was such an unusual situation, though, and I know if I would have booked directly with the Marriott I could have cancelled and gotten a refund or been given a credit for a different date.
As for the Monarch, it's pretty dated. I thought being next to the beach club would be a positive but it was incredibly crowded. My family has been vacationing on Hilton Head for many years and we usually rent a house within walking distance to the beach. The beaches we've used have been very quiet and non-populated. Since it was just my husband and me this time, I decided to rent a condo. Unfortunately there aren't many condo developments in Sea Pines on the Atlantic side which is why I picked the Monarch. I would not rent there again.
Hilton Head is still one of my favorite vacation destinations, but there are much better rentals out there for the same price.
