12 years ago, my wife and I acquired five Vrbo properties. Beginning maybe three years ago we sold four of the five properties. We now have one remaining, the Green House Cottage.
Over the past 12 years, we have aged and are no longer spring chickens
With this in mind, we have recently decided to list the property for sale. How does this affect your existing reservation or planned reservation? First, my contract with my realtor states that prospective buyers visiting the property will be ABSOLUTELY by appointment only. These appointments will be scheduled when the property is vacant. A FOR SALE sign will be placed on the entrance to the property. Most real estate sales take time. I will update you if the sale becomes pending. At that point I’ll know when the closing will be and I can contact you as to how this will affect your stay.
There are many wonderful VRBO properties in beautiful St. Marys. By now you probably have checked out the many vacation properties listed on the St. Marys VRBO site. Here are a few things that set our property apart from other local properties.
- Value – With 2 private bedrooms and a large family room, couples or families can vacation at a very affordable price.
- Pet Friendly – Dogs/pups are welcome. There is a one-time $25 fee per dog. . This excludes ADA Compliant Service Dogs. Two (2) dog limit. Please note only dogs are allowed (no cats or other pets).
- More Value - With a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor grill you can choose to “dine in” with your family and friends perhaps making your vacation more affordable.
The quaintness of historic downtown St. Marys surrounds you when you stay at Green House Cottage. The waterfront is only a few blocks away with a peaceful waterfront park. Restaurants and coffee shops are nearby as well. Enjoy walks down streets that date back to the 1700's. On Saturday mornings, stroll down to the waterfront between 9 AM and 1 PM and buy goodies at the outdoor market. On certain holidays, come enjoy local festival at its best. A ferry ride to beautiful Cumberland Island is both picturesque and educational. Tickets can be purchased at the waterfront. Be sure to make you reservations well before you arrive. And, if you are bringing your boat you will find two launching ramps nearby and ample on-site parking at Green House Cottage.
You will have the comforts of home right at your fingertips at Greenhouse Cottage. Roomy living area and kitchen are centrally located inside the Cottage, with two small/cozy bedrooms off to each side of the living area. Wireless internet, 46" HD TV and Blu Ray DVD,
Kitchen is well equipped with free-standing stove/microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. All your cooking needs are provided, including cookware, serve ware, dishes and flatware and a gas grill. Mr. Coffee maker and Kuerig and blender are also provided. Stackable washer/dryer.
The living area has comfortable seating with HD flat screen television. All floors are ceramic tiled. A bedroom located at the front of the house has two twin beds, while the back bedroom has a pillow top queen bed. The bathroom is equipped with a small apartment size shower only.
As you venture out the rear door to the Cottage, you will find an enclosed courtyard with deck and walkway. Enjoy your morning coffee while relaxing in the private outdoor area, or maybe a nice meal and a little sun as well. And, if your four-legged friend joins you he or she will enjoy a secure fully fenced environment.

We absolutely love The Green Cottage! My hubby and I are 71 and everything about The Green Cottage spoke to us! I love the foyer to use as a staging area for unpacking and packing our van. You can close doors to the foyer to keep pets and small children safe and out of your way! Hubby loves the parking area. No overhead trees dropping "tree stuff" on your vehicle. The fact that you can align your trunk to the front door is super wonderful! No steps to climb! Tom is the best host on Earth! Anything we had questions about he responded to in a friendly way super fast! We have stayed at other cottages in St Marys but The Green Cottage is by far superior! The fact that The Green Cottage is pet (dog) friendly sealed the deal for us! Located in a quiet neighborhood you will absolutely enjoy your stay! We will be back next year for sure! Book now folks!

It was clean. It had pretty much everything one could need. The location was within walking distance of the ferry to Cumberland Island. Owners were very responsive when I had questions. The place smelled a little musty when we arrived but after turning on the A/C , it dissipated. I think that’s the price you pay for being near the water. My only recommendation would be to have a small stash of coffee for the first day until guests can get to the store. Otherwise, it was as listed.

The cottage had everything we needed, including sheets to cover the furniture, should the dogs decide to jump up on the couch! Nice touch. Poop bags are available outside if you forget your's before you go out.Outdoor furniture is ready to be replaced. Neighborhood was very nice with pleasant people. Nice area to walk, there are several small shops and eateries to visit. Most places are dog friendly here. Parking is right outside the entrance, making unpacking and packing very easy. The host was responsive and pleasant, making for a most enjoyable stay!
