We stayed at the cottage for 6 weeks while I was undergoing a procedure at OHSU.It was such a pleasant, healing and lovely space. I am grateful to have been in this beautiful place and neighborhood. Lara was the best at being helpful and generous with all questions and ponderings.

Historic Vista Cottage was the perfect place to stay after selling our Portland home. Everything in the cottage was as described in the Cottage description, and Lara was responsive with any questions that came up during our stay. It’s a great walking neighborhood with easy access to grocery store and NW Portland shopping and Restaurants. We highly recommmend!

I stayed in the cottage for a little over a month. The cottage is in a wonderful location, in a safe neighborhood close to downtown. Though the house is "historic" it has all you could want. The host was also wonderful and very responsive. If you're looking for a great place to stay while in Portland, this is it.

I don’t think I could have found a better place to stay in Portland. Lara’s place felt like home away from home and the weeks just flew by. I didn’t want to leave!
A convenient, walkable and beautiful location. I’ve never wanted to walk so much in my life and even got my 12 year old son to put in some miles with me.
The home was comfortable, clean, well stocked and full of charm. I really put the Nespresso to good use! :)
Lara’s communication and hospitality was superb. I hope to be back again the next time I’m in Portland.

Wonderful host and wonderful cottage
Wonderful host and wonderful cottage
Lara was an accommodating and responsive host. Very nice person, lovely to interact with. The cottage is charming, tastefully decorated, and fully equipped with everything you would need. I stayed at her cottage for a full month while relocating to Portland for work and it was the perfect landing pad while I got my bearings in a new city. Perfect for a solo traveler or couple. In a quiet, residential neighborhood. A nice pizzeria is on the corner for lunch and dinner options. 10/10 would recommend!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely, charming cottage, which is located in a beautiful neighborhood about 25 minutes walking distance from the city. The property had everything we needed and more, including high-quality linens and towels, Trader Joe’s bath products, candles, and even fresh flowers. And it was sparkling clean. Check in and out were simple and the host was very accommodating throughout. We highly recommend this beautiful property for short or long stays in Portland!

Simple elegance in the perfect location
Simple elegance in the perfect location
First, and foremost, Lara was a dream to communicate with: from my initial inquiry, through my errors in travel dates, to staying in the property itself, Lara responded promptly, clearly, and courteously. The cottage is beautifully appointed: simple elegant decoration and yet everything you might need is available in the space. My husband enjoyed the Nespresso, speedy internet, and yummy smelling candle. My favorites were the cozy blankets, tea kettle, and Trader Joe's bathroom products. The location allowed us to walk most everywhere, and we were able to park our rental car easily on either of the streets where the cottage is located. And we were 'regulars' at the Vista Spring Cafe that is literally 50 feet away as we had our best meals there in this beautiful space. Given the location, cleanliness, decoration and condition of the property the rate Lara charges is very fair. And we are so grateful to her for sharing her space with us which allowed us to have such an amazing trip to Portland! Thanks, Lara.

Could have stayed downtown at the hotel that hosted my seminar but chose this charming cottage in a wonderful neighborhood just a short bus trip away. Much more of the Portland experience we were looking for. Bus does not run all day but the stop is right outside the door!

A truly special place to stay in Portland
A truly special place to stay in Portland
This is a charming and special property, it really has all of the features to make it feel like home. Architecturally rich and historic, the house has a comfortable bed and quiet bedroom, a superbly-appointed kitchen, spacious living room with fireplace and desk and couch/chairs, clean bathroom, nice patio for a glass of wine at the end of the day, good internet bandwidth and a broad range of television options, ample on-street parking, wonderful cafe about 100 feet away, and so much more. Communication with the owner was outstanding and she is committed to ensuring your stay is exceptional. The house is in a beautiful hilltop neighborhood and on a bus line. There is a school and playground across the street. Shopping, bars, and restaurants are within a mile directly down the road. You can easily walk downtown or to the farmer's market, though the hill climb back up can be a workout! We loved this place and look forward to staying here again when we return to Portland.

Fabulous Vista Cottage
Fabulous Vista Cottage
Just stayed 10 days in the Vista Cottage and had a wonderful stay. Great location can walk to Washington park, down Vista to the Pearl plus close to downtown. The Cottage is well equipped with everything you need plus a very cute back patio area to enjoy some great Oregon wine. Lara is terrific and very responsive. The location can’t be beat and you get a chance to stay in one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Portland. The little Cottage is also a unique historical building but well maintained and furnished. Plus walking to the Vista Springs cafe is super convenient. You feel like a real Portland insider by staying there not just a visitor to Portland. The house is just as represented. The bedding and furniture are lovely, kitchen fully equipped with great pans and everything works very well. Didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to come back.

Great neighborhood find
Great neighborhood find
House was exactly as advertised. Quiet, upscale neighborhood with great walk ability and house and garden viewing. . We came to town without a vehicle and anticipated riding bus 51 back up the hill from downtown each day. Unfortunately bus 51 only runs the commuter circuit, so we used Lyft which was very accessible. Take a walk from the house to and through the Marquan Nature Center and a Lyft back to the house for a fun morning walk.

A perfect Portland cottage!
A perfect Portland cottage!
This is an absolutely lovely little Spanish Revival cottage with a vintage vibe in a swanky hillside area of Portland filled with gorgeous old homes. We had some great strolls. The cottage itself is tidy, decorated with great flair and equipped with everything you could need. We especially enjoyed the wood-burning fireplace at night. Best of all, the bed was extremely comfortable and allowed for a solid night's sleep--much appreciated after running around town all day. An ideal rental for a romantic getaway.

Perfectly appointed cottage in one of the best Portland neighborhoods!
Everything about the property is great and Lara is a responsive and flexible host. This is the deal of the century in one of the best PDX neighborhoods. Great walking, a cafe around the corner and public transportation at the front door.
This cottage has been meticulously remodeled and is well appointed. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed 5 nights here, and it was a cozy, comfortable home for us. The kitchen is great, well stocked with condiments, like seasonings and oils. And there is a Nespresso! The queen bed is comfy in the bedroom, and the living area has a desk where my husband could work. We entered through the back door into the kitchen, so we never used the front door except to take out the trash. The barrels were out for pickup the next day, so we never had to go into the garage. The place is charming as can be, and well appointed. There is a nice restaurant 1 block away at the corner adjoined to an antique store. A Zupan's grocer is a mile or more away down the hill, along with the rest of NW downtown shops and restaurants.

We have stayed in the Vista Cottage four times, at different times of the year, and it has always been a wonderful experience. Lara is great to work with and very responsive in our communications, she always gets right back to us with answers to questions. The house is always perfect and the neighborhood is an endless delight on our walks, most recently with the fall colors, stunning! Thank you to Lara for providing such a beautiful place to stay while enjoying this wonderful city!!

This place exceeded our expectations. The cottage is extremely well maintained and equipped. This is the cleanest house we have ever rented. Bed and linens are first rate. We spent two weeks there and loved it. As former residents of Portland, we found the location perfect—a five minute drive to downtown, the Pearl, and NW 23rd. Our favorite grocery store, Zupan’s is about a half mile away. This is the perfect place for a couple. We will gladly stay there next year on our annual trip to Portland.

very well cared for, with nice furnishings. The overall
vintage charm was exactly what we hoped for.
The surrounding neighborhood is full of trees and
and stately homes. This was our first trip to Portland
and we hope to return! Lots of fun things to do and
explore.

We stayed here 4 nights in early August, 2018. We loved the place, it was fun to stay in a property of its age and the house is very convenient to anywhere you want to go. Vista Springs Cafe is steps away, we had dinner at the bar, it was delicious. Appreciated the hair dryer, iron and french press for coffee as well as the washer/dryer and the outdoor sitting area for coffee in the morning. The faucet in the kitchen is beautiful, we loved the Meyer's soaps! Nice touch. We did not do any real cooking while there but did notice there are plenty of plates, bowls etc. for use. The view of the beautiful houses out the front window is lovely. Nice to see them every day. We were surprised that the air conditioning was a portable unit that required some very minor and easy assembly. A heat wave was on full blast when we arrived and it was 81 in the house at 7pm. 4 hours later with the portable unit running at 62 degrees on high it was still 79. When we woke up it was 71 in the house. The unit leaked water, we were very concerned because of the beautiful wood on the floor. We kept ahead of that by emptying it frequently. It turned out to not be a big deal for us, but it did take twice daily emptying. I gather that with the usual weather in the area the unit is not typically needed, and when the front & back doors are cracked a breeze flows through. Oh yes, I failed to tell Lara that the smallest fan in the closet does not work. No matter, there were 2 other fans in the house. :O) The landscaping needed severe trimming, everything was spent and overgrown however we could see how it must have been beautiful 1 1/2 months or so before. That we caught it at this time was a great disappointment as I love gardens and was looking forward to this feature. I guess that is about it. We highly recommend staying here and would absolutely return to this charming house.
