The location of this home was wonderful: So close to Acadia Nat'l Park, and and easy drive to several local towns. The setting is spectacular--beautiful and serene. As for the home itself: This is, by far, the most well-stocked VRBO home we've ever visited. It really felt like staying in someone's home, not a rental. There were SO MANY towels, linens, cleaning supplies, dishes, etc... A bigger family or group would be quite comfortable, and have everything they'd need. The only possible improvement would be a better layout for groups in the common area. While charming, and plenty of room, the layout is such that the TV is only viewable from a small area--so "movie nights" for a family would be a challenge. For a couple, it was fine; we enjoyed the fireplace in the evenings and then moved over to watch a movie later. This is a nit-picky comment; but if watching TV is important to you, there could be a better situation.Everything else about the home is lovely! Clean, comfortable, welcoming, and a perfect getaway nestled in the beauty of Maine.

Location of house was fabulous. Had an issue with no heat for entire stay but local manager was very helpful. The extra person charge is very confusing and requires clarification

Of the many vacation rentals I have enjoyed, this was a standout for architecture. The extensive clerestory windows added light to all the interior spaces like halls and bathrooms. In some cases, they were aided by mirrors to give the illusion of seeing trees and sky above the usual bathroom mirror. As shown in the photos, the wall of glass in the rear gives an amazing perspective on the stream flowing into the fjord (Somes Sound). The built-in furniture of the sunken living room is precisely fitted to the surrounding kitchen and dining floor. A shelf on the dining wall is curved to guide the eye to the view in the rear. The stone fireplace is a masterpiece. Not everything is storybook perfect. The bathrooms are small. We used one for each of us. The use of single-pane glass in the rear wall made it challenging to get the rear warm in cool evenings and mornings without overheating the bedrooms. Opening a bedroom window helps. The kitchen is not a wonderland of granite and high-end cabinetry, but roomy and more than adequate for preparing many meals. The supplies of paper, foils, wraps and cleaners was far more generous than at most vacation rentals. The location is nearly perfect for accessing all that Acadia has to offer. Northeast Harbor is a quiet village with a couple of decent restaurants (better than at our home). With the pandemic, we limited ourselves to take-out. The house location is even quieter than the village, although I was told the stream can be noisy in a period of more normal rain. The owner and caretaker were very helpful.
