The host is very friendly and accessible. The location is great. Nice neighborhood. Conveniently close to grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, a theater and nice weekend farmers market. To access the unit you have to go up a tiny steep street that most Ubers won’t drive up. The unit itself is one level but there are a lot of stairs to get to the entrance. It’s doable but we had some older family members with us. Bedrooms are spacious. Two of the 4 bathrooms are tight with small showers. The photos are not up-to-date. The unit was cluttered

Stay was great and the home was wonderful. When guests arrived to check-in at 6pm they were informed that the home had not been cleaned and that they were unaware that this booking had taken place. Maria, the manager, was absolutely wonderful and got someone in to clean up and get the home ready for everyone staying there. Check-In was not able to occur until after 8pm which after a day of travel for everyone that was a concern. This was not a last minute booking either since we had booked this stay in February.

This was a great space for 3 adults & 2 kids - a comfortable spacious apartment and well stocked compared to other places we’ve rented. Location convenient to Grand Lake Theater, Piedmont, and easy access to freeways. We also appreciated the ease of check in and check out, and easy to communicate with property manager in advance to prepare for the trip.

We rented this beautiful very centrally located apartment in Oakland to spend time together a family group of 7. The owner her assistant Maria communicated very well. She-suggested place to visit and where to eat. we were able to visit farmers market on Saturday , Sunday Lake Merritt and Bonsai Garden. All waking distance. They have Safeway supermarket close by. This place was stocked with condiment , sugar coffee tea creamer. Every room had boxfan. House is so peaceful and deck is serene. We had a wonderful time.

The photos and description of this property are a bit deceiving. We thought the location would be much closer to Lake Merit than it actually is. In reality it is about 4-5 blocks through a sketchy neighborhood to get to the lake where we thought it would be right there on the lake. We only got one parking place that was very tight. It was difficult to figure out how to access the property, so we initially parked on Grand Ave. to walk around and figure it out. Within 4 minutes, we got a $58 parking ticket from the City of Oakland!! Arghh! The four bedrooms are nice/clean with private bathrooms although the shower does not work in the bathtub. (Note: whoever did their tile work, should not be paid as it is the messiest grout work with broken glass tiles I have ever seen.) Some amenities were broken (like the coffee maker) and check-in was tough as they expected us to be there right at 3:00, but we got stuck in traffic and couldn't make that time so they just left the place unlocked with the key there. There is a downstairs door that locked from the other side that would feel safer/more secure if we had a way to lock it ourselves since we had no way of knowing where it goes. The surrounding restaurants were good with a variety of foods.

Our family had a great stay at this location, located very close to Lake Merritt and many, many fun businesses, restaurants, and shops. There was a slight issue with communication around the check-in, but management was super apologetic and was great and helpful for the rest of the weekend. It's also worth mentioning the place is HUGE and very comfortable. The outdoor deck by the front door is particularly lovely at sunset, but families with young kids should note that there are some shelves with boxes of semi-sharp objects accessible on it (e.g. nails, screws, tools), at least when we were there. Overall, a very pleasant stay. We'd book again!

This house was exactly what we needed for our Outside Lands weekend. Plenty of space and lot's of very cool art around. The one thing I would say is that I think the hosts should warn their guests ahead of time about the car break ins around the neighborhood. One of our friends parked on the street for just a few minutes to make sure they were in the right place, they came back and all the windows were smashed in and ALL of their stuff was taken. Not the hosts fault of course, but we heard about a lot of break ins in the area so I think people should be warned in the future! They were very great and responsive, would absolutely stay again!!

Lots of walkable shops and restaurants to explore and airport proximity made for stress-free arrival and departure. This was a great place for myself, my husband, and our 4 kids. So many rooms and bathrooms allowed us to have some privacy while being close and minimized the bickering between kids. The kitchen was stocked, extra shampoo/toiletries, and lots of clean bedding for all kinds of weather. Only downside was the driveway was a bit tight to get into/out if and it was a bit hard to find at first since it's off the main street. Bathroom towel racks we're all broken off but that didn't bother us. Welela was so warm and gracious. We'd love to stay there again.

My husband, 2 sisters, 1 brother, niece and nephew met in Oakland to get together with our brother for a family gathering. The location of this VRBO was excellent, close to my brother and SIL and many sites and restaurants. The host allowed us to check in early, she was responsive to our questions. The VRBO was lovely, very nice accommodations, with a lovely, secluded deck to gather and enjoy the weather and family. The off street parking was an added bonus. Walela was gracious and easy to work with. I would definitely recommend this VRBO for anyone staying in Oakland. It is close to Lake Merritt and conveniently located to many attractions.

Checkin was cordial. The parking was off street and safe. For a shared building it was quite private and quiet. Very comfortable and very convenient with 4 bathrooms. Absolutely lovely deck with a flowering clematis vine on 3 sides. Exterior walls were decorated with scenes and artwork. Location was easy access to the freeways and close to the Bay bridge. Very much worth staying in Oakland to visit San Francisco

This place is great for a group. Easy to gather and also easy to have down time in your own space. The location is superb. Able to wlk to most anything. Easy access to berkeley or sf and the rest of the bay. Host was wonderful. I visit the bay area often and this is my new favorite short term rental. Will definitely be back.

This is a BIG spacious house - with 4 bedrooms each with its own bathroom, right off Grand Avenue, near Lake Merritt. There is a big living room and dining area and a well stocked kitchen. There is also a huge airy deck - it was sunny while we were there! It also includes a dedicated parking spot. The house was very clean and the host - Welela was very gracious and kind.

Loved the property! One can be taken aback due to how you have to access the property. In essence via a small street/alley and up the stairs where the cars park. But don't let that deceive you. Up the stairs and you have a huge deck/porch at your disposal which is perfect for outdoor gatherings. The living room (and kitchen) gets great sunlight throughout the day and very comfortable for lounging and/or TV watching. All four bedrooms are towards the back of the flat and quite adequate.. Three of the bedrooms are a good size and all but the smallest bedroom has an en suite bath. The blinds could be updated but that was such a minor thing and the only negative comment I could possibly make. We loved our stay at the flat.

Welala was the perfect hostess. The place was very clean, the beds were super comfortable and the neighborhood was great. Safeway is within walking distance and Trader Joe’s is also very close by. There are a huge set of stairs right near the parking space which are great if you want to get some exercise. Once you are at the top there is a beautiful view of Grand Lake. The apt is very spacious and the kitchen has almost everything you need. But if you like to drink wine, bring your wine opener. Other than that, it’s perfect.

This could have been a 4 star review, except that we received no check-in instructions. The first member of our party arrived at 3 pm and the cleaning service had just arrived to start cleaning. They were unaware that there would be guests that night. I appears that the manager forgot our reservation. After our two night stay, there were no check-out instructions. This apartment met our needs with 4 bedrooms and 4 baths. It sleeps 8, but one is on a futon on the floor. My biggest issue is with parking. All 8 people better come in one car. There is one parking space; other parking is 2-hour, metered, on the street, or full of residents and subject to variable big-city rules; read the signs carefully. Also the driveway is steep so that low clearance cars will scrape bottom. There are deferred maintenance issues in the apartment: window blinds are old and damaged, some windows have none; a towel rack fell off when we touched it; a bathroom window was held open by a shampoo bottle. On Thursday night there was a concert in a nearby restaurant or bar. It was very nice music with a solo singer and guitar, but it was amplified, with an enthusiastic crowd and it went past 10:00pm.

I booked this place for some coworkers who were coming into town for the week. The location is great and the space is fantastic! There is a private bath for each bedroom! The back patio is a wonderful place to have a meal, unwind, or even do some work from. But the real five stars goes to the property owner. There was a short notice request for an early check in and she actually called me, from another continent!, to make sure that her assistant had been in touch. Wonderful experience. Would definitely book again.

The apartment is very convenient to walking to the lake and many shops and restaurants, as long as you like walking. :) The aoartment is big, spacious and clean, but it does need some love. The window blinds could be replaced as they are bent and broken. My shower did not work and I suspect has not worked for awhile. The towel rack fell off the wall when I reached for my towel and the toilet paper holder was also broken. Those things are easy enough to fix and make all the difference. The kitchen could use some tall glasses but that's a personal preference. The bathrooms could use some wash cloths, but again a personal preference. Be aware 2 of the bedrooms face the main street so there is noise and street lights. I live in the *sticks* and this did not bother me or my daughter in the other bedroom. The beds were very comfortable and had plenty of blankets, it was very chilly while we were there the end of March. Heating elements are individual in each room, I did not see air conditioners, there are fans and the windows open. Would I go there again? I wouldn't be adverse to it, but I would probably look for a place closer to my daughter next time, although I did like the apartment. It was very eclectic, spacious, convenient and the owners were nice and answered our texts within a reasonable time.

My relatives actually stayed there most of the time and they were extremely happy with the place. It was clean and well located near the lake and restaurants. They accidentally left some keys in the apt. after they checked out and the owner and property manager went out of their way to let them back in. Only minor issue is if you check in late, it is a bit difficult to find. Overall a great experience.
