Hale Ilima is an upscale beach cottage in the true sense of the word. It’s delightful island style architecture and design will delight you in every way. There are 3 generous size bedrooms with 2 baths. The high ceilings and abundant windows bring the light and the breezes in, to give it that tropical feel.
All new 500 ct. bed linens and thick towels await you. There is a King, Queen, and twin bedroom to accommodate every travelers needs. The twin room can be made into a King as well for couples traveling together.

A new 40’” LCD TV with cable, wireless internet, and free local and long distance calling are just some of the special features we offer.

Everything you need for a beach vacation is here from beach chairs, boogie boards, beach towels and umbrellas, and did I mention the ocean, sun, and surf? A short 5-minute walk to a lifeguarded beach insures your swimming safety. This begins a nearly deserted stretch of white sand that goes for miles…..all the way to the Na Pali Coast. Venture off to Polihale Beach, a wild natural beach, with majestic sand dunes serving as a backdrop.

Take a hike in the Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” as Mark Twain called it. Instead of driving for hours to get there from other parts of the island, you are only a mile away from the back road leading directly to the top of the canyon and the NaPali coast cliffs.

A stop at the Shrimp Station, or Island Tacos, for lunch will make the wait worthwhile, finished off with the island’s best sno cones at Jo-Jo Shave ice.

If it is a resort atmosphere and dining experience that you are looking for, you are only 25 minutes for the resort area of Poipu Beach. Here you will find world famous hotels, coves of white sand, upscale shopping and dining opportunities.

This place is great! The host responded quickly and positively to all of our queries and requests. Including one regarding fragrance allergies. Thanks Scott! I was initially concerned about the nearness of the road and breakwater just beyond it but the easy walk to the lovely nearby beach more than made up for it. Be sure to visit nearby Hanapepe. A small art community. The swinging bridge is fun but so are the shops and people. The location is not central to Kauai tourist zones but day trips around the island are easy.

The location of this property was exceptional! Away from the "touristy" locations, yet just minutes away from local restaurants, food trucks, grocery stores and one of the cleanest and longest beaches on the island. Early morning and late evening walks on the beach are a must! You can literally walk for miles and miles on sandy beaches, passing just a handful of local fisherman along the way. The lifeguard was a welcome sight in that the beach is sparcely populated and the waves can become rather ominuos. The communication with the host has been very good. Everything was as promised...and more. Although we brought most bathroom essentials, it was unneccessary. Everything for the week was provided. The house was clean and well maintained. We spent a lot of time on the lanai just watching the waves crashing the rock-protected shoreline, the boats passing by in the distance, and the "thousands" of stars at night. We almost didn't even notice the number of cars passing by on the only highway this side of the island. If you are into hiking, the road to Waimea Canyon was just minutes away. Be ready for a slow, methodical drive taking in some incredible sites...and the chickens. Traveling the opposite direction takes you to "the end of the highway". Be sure to have a 4-wheel drive vehicle as the road at this end of the island is more of a "path", but I would highly suggest the experience.Driving to the north side of the island takes a couple hours. We were always glad to return!

Loved the house - it was outfitted with everything we could need. Quiet location away from tourist spots. Beautiful views from the front deck. The beach in front of the house was just rocks, so you had to walk down to Kekaha Beach Park to go to the beach.

Three generations looking to simply relax, enjoy some beach time, and…. No that’s it; simply relax and embrace the island pace. This is the perfect, low-key place to do it! Sit on the lanai and watch the surf slapping against rocks, or stroll about a 1/4 mile to lie on the sand, and swim in the ocean.Kudos to the property owner and their cleaning crew. The place was really clean, with all the linens needed for that beach life.

This home is by far the cleanest house we have ever stayed for vacation. Above and beyond in necessities. Where you think you might see a little dust, nope it’s not there. The cottage vibe is on point. Although if your in for the day it does get a little warm in the afternoon due to the open ceiling but we went outside and enjoyed the amazing views and the sounds of the crashing waves. The beds are extremely comfortable. We were a family of 5 and could have used a few more face towels but we managed. No need to buy laundry soap, toilet paper or paper towels and they even leave you an unopened sponge. Toiletries are provided and we were happy to see the varieties of coffee available. All the beach supplies you could think of. We also get quick responses from housekeeping and the manager. 5 stars for sure. The appreciation for the business really shows. Thank y’all so much!

We really enjoyed our stay. The home is well stocked including beach toys. We missed that the beach in front of the home directly was not swimmable, and didn't consider how busy the road would be... But that's on US. There's a wonderful (magical) beach just down the road a quarter of a mile and this home has a ton of beach toys we had a blast with.Overall, wonderful experience on a different side of the island. GREATLY recommend these hosts.

Almost everything about this property was perfect if you aren't looking for big city life. The view is lovely, the beach down the road is awesome and the beds were comfortable.The sun can make the living room warm in the afternoon but if you remember to put down the porch shades before the afternoon heat, it helps. My only wishes were for more cushy living room furniture and less traffic on the road out front. But, I'd still rent here again in a heartbeat!

The house was a perfect base camp for our adventures on this side of the island. We loved waking up and catching the sunrise with waves crashing against the rocks and watching the sunset from the nearby beach. The road noise/traffic was more than we expected but since we were gone most of the day, it didn’t bother us too much. The location was perfect for driving up for hikes at Koke’e State Park. I recommend taking road 550 up there (closer to the house than the main road and less winding and less traffic, plus 550 has sweet views). Breakfast at Gina’s was delicious, as were the snow cones at JoJo’s and tacos from Tiki Tacos. Can’t wait to come back!

House is ocean front , the beach is not swimmable. Hwy 50 is between the house and water however not much of a distraction and no road noise penetrates in to the house. AC is window type throughout and cooled the house well. Ownership and cleaning staff was easy to work with. Kitchen equipped well, water Toys are provided. Washer dryer is full size. The house is a raised so it’s 14 steps to enter, flat floor once you enter. If you don’t mind the drive to Luis and Kaja keep in mind of an hour it’s a cool house.

This house is just incredible! The cleanliness and open floor plan makes for an incredible vacation. Lots of extras such as spices, condiments, coffee, sweet n low, toilet paper, sunscreen etc. The view is amazing and listening to the waves crashing on the rocks in front of the House wonderful as well as the magical sunsets and being able to see more stars than I’ve ever seen. We had a great time. The views are great. We were a little disappointed there isn’t much sandy beach around and none across the road from the house. The location is great for exploring Waimea canyon and the south side. It’s a drive and some traffic to get to the north side. The property owners were great to work with. We would stay here again.

The property has a lot of potential but it needs to be upgraded, specifically the floors, baths, and kitchen. The location is in the outskirts of Waimea, the surrounding communities are populated by locals which provide an opportunity to see how they live and how this area differs from the more touristy sections of the island. With a little TLC, this property will be fabulous as the view of the pacific ocean from the second level is spectacular. The property comes with all beach accessories and has AC in all rooms except bathrooms. We recommend providing more beach towels, we only had 4. Keenan the maintenance man was very responsive when we found some issues upon arrival related to plumbing, etc. Overall we had a good time at this home which could have been enhanced if the property is modernized.

1st impression as we walked into the cottage was WOW! The sunsets from the deck were spectacular! The cottage was well furnished from the towels to the well supplied kitchen. Waking each morning to the sound of the ocean was so relaxing and exactly what we needed. We frequented the little sundry store at PMRF base and ate and watched the sunset from Shenanigans restaurant. Other activities were renting e-bikes, catamaran sunset dinner cruise, mountain tubing and just hanging out. Note: the sliding doors facing the ocean are very hard to open WD40 did not work. This was a GREAT beach house. Kekaha beach is very uncrowded and a 5 minute walk or 1 minute drive from the house. There is some morning and afternoon traffic on the highway in front of the house, but it didn't keep us awake at night. We all loved the open floor plan. It was so nice to watch the ocean waves crash on the rocks from the porch. We really wanted a rental way from the main tourist areas and this place certainly was that!!!

We had a bit of difficulty finding it in the dark. The place was perfect for our family. Very spacious and well equipped. Beautiful views and relaxing spaces. A little far from most of the action on the island but also pretty peaceful. Would stay again.

Our family had just an amazing time at this location. The owner was super responsive to our questions. I would suggest to plan a couple activities where you are back at the location for sunset where you can sit on the lanei. The view is outstanding and if you walk down the road a bit there is a beach to play on. This house was just perfect for our family as my oldest (21) had her own room, my youngest at (15) had his, and we had our own space. We loved the fully stocked with supplies kitchen. We ate breakfast here a lot. We stopped at Costco on way in the first night. The Big Save we went to the next day. Having a washer and dryer was fantastic. The living room was set up well so we could watch tv if we all wanted but also sit at dinning room table and chat into living room or look at ocean. I think after driving the island this is the best spot we could have chosen. We like the location of activities and will stay here again when we come back to visit. Cons were very few - the sound of oceans crashing on the rocks the first night was really loud but it’s just that I didn’t know what it was and now I will miss that sound so much, it’s on a main road so cars do pass but no traffic jams just a nice flow, the shower in the master is a step up and out but if you prefer you can use the other bathroom because there are 2 bathrooms on this property which was also a major plus for this family. Great location especially for a sunset. The area was quiet and safe. Must have a car to get to larger grocery store and all restaurants. During our stay, there is no visible beach in front of the house. Walked a half mile to the beach but road was safe. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.

My family enjoyed this beautiful home and this heavenly island! The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks across the street lulled us to sleep at night, and the roosters were our alarm clock. This was our second trip to Kauai but our first time exploring the southern coast - we can't wait to come back again! The beach house was tidy and well-stocked. Beach towels, chairs, umbrellas and even beach toys for the kids were all available. It was like a home away from home.
