It is designed to accommodate multiple families with open bathrooms and individual toilets and showers. The home is just 30 minutes east of Duluth on the sandy south shore of Lake Superior.
Lake Superior Barn rests on 320 acres of remote wilderness and a sandy beach. The home sits on the south shore of Lake Superior, staring across the lake to the North Shore cities of Duluth and Two Harbors whose lights twinkle in the distance at night. The property is completely surrounded by the Brule River State Forest so there is not another home on the Lake Superior shoreline for miles… Enjoy the secluded sandy beach or walk it like an ocean looking for beach-glass. Listen to the waves crash or swim in the cleanest of all the Great Lakes where the temperature can reach 60 or 70 degrees in the shallow, sandy bottom water. Warm up to a driftwood fire or roast s'mores on the waterfront.
Once back to the house, wash the sand off your feet in the outside shower while taking in the 180 degree view of Lake Superior. Enjoy the 1600 sq foot reclaimed deck just outside the beautiful kitchen and a pantry with all the extra ingredients and spices you may have forgotten. Build a fire with firewood provided in the stone fireplace or have a fire on the bluff watching the sun set or lay in a bean bag and pick a book to read from the stocked bookshelves in the loft. Lake Superior Barn has 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 3 showers built from the reclaimed lumber, steel and iron nails of 7 turn of the century Minnesota barns. The game room has radiant concrete heat to warm your toes as you play ping pong, shuffle board or lounge on the couch to watch a movie or TV.... Star Link Wi-Fi is provided.

Pick raspberries and wild strawberries in the summer or snowshoe the woods and trails in the winter… either way, you will never encounter another person on the private and secluded land. The house had plenty of space for our family and we really enjoyed exploring the trails around the property and the access to the beach. The sauna and hot tub were a big hit too. We can’t wait to stay here again!

I reserved this space for a small group retreat for therapists.Overall, the space itself is GORGEOUS, with amazing views of Lake Superior, a lovely private beach, walking paths and trails, and our favorite - the woodfired sauna! The home itself is very well stocked and so well taken care of, and we enjoyed the decor and the warm environment. We had space to do yoga in the mornings downstairs, and spread out for group activities when needed. The kitchen was really well stocked and well laid out, and the whole vibe overall is lovely! The most challenging thing about our stay with the caretaker Kris, who left a very bad taste in our mouth and impacted our entire experience of this property. The owner casually mentioned we should contact her to arrange an arrival time, however I missed this detail in the rush of the few days before the retreat and he never provider her phone number. I had already requested an early arrival and late departure, and confirmed this with the owner, so they knew our arrival time and we let ourselves in when we arrived. Instead of texting to check in with us (she had our contact info but we didn't have hers), Kris rudely interrupted our first group activity on the first night and brought a cloud of bad energy into what was meant to be a warm, inviting experience. I understood why she was upset, because they have had guests completely wreck their sauna, but her response seemed out of proportion and she was rude and nasty the first and last day too.

This property is absolutely amazing! We stayed for four nights which was not nearly long enough! After arriving we never left and enjoyed every minute, never getting bored! The location is fantastic! We did not use the sauna, but the hot tub was a big hit! Enjoyed the best fire pit we have ever had every night too! The indoor fireplace is beautiful and our kids enjoyed the game room and cornhole. We have stayed at many properties but this is one of the best! The owners were great as were the caretakers. We sure hope to return soon!
