About this cabin rental

Our log cabin is conveniently located near Coram Montana on a well maintained county road just 8 miles from West Glacier, It sits on 8 park-like acres overlooking a 27 acre pond/wetland that is home to many birds and animals. The setting is peaceful, teeming with wildlife and yet located near many wondrous and fun attractions.

Spring begins at the pond, with the emergence of the painted turtles. They have been hibernating and come out to sun themselves on the floating logs. Many birds visit and live at the pond. The most prevalent are grebes who build floating nests to hatch and raise their young. Ducks, loons and Canada geese are also visitors and residents. Blue herons are summer visitors. Our last fall visitors before freeze-up were a family of 6 white swans. While the pond is a wonderful place for wildlife, it is not a place to swim or fish. The pond has an abundance of lily pads and fish as food for birds (too small for people). Enjoy our pond by watching the wildlife.

We have enjoyed many hours restoring this 1970's structure and now hope you will enjoy our resulting efforts. The furnishings are an eclectic mixture on new and old, comfortable and interesting, with handmade quilts on each beds. When you are tired of hiking you will find puzzles, a read-it-or-trade-it library, The smart TV has access to Netflix and other wifi offerings. If cooking is your 'thing' the kitchen is fully equipped. Our favorite cabin spot for reading or dining is the covered porch. With patience and quiet the deer or elk they may come to visit; they are always around but are shy.

First and foremost is the location of the cabin - it is close to West Glacier National Park Entrance (Apgar Visitor Center). It is a timed entry, but it can be booked at 7PM day prior. Apgar has WiFi internet, so join the crowd there if you're still at the park. Cabin is very cozy. Excellent retreat for a family. Now, it does get hot during the day, if it is hot outside, as Glacier is only at 3,500-5,000 ft altitude. However, the nights are cold and it cools off fast; and you really should be spending your day outside anyway. There are ceiling fans and window fans that help out. It is absolutely normal setup for a mountains cabin. While would be nice to have is the washer and dryer on-site, we were prepared. We packed enough clothes for both cold and hot weather, but it was all warm temps in July at all altitudes. Many bear spray bottles to borrow, if you don't have your own, so that's a plus. Garage can be used to park your vehicle, avoiding curious animal encounters. 3 individual beds upstairs was the final deciding factor, accommodating everyone in our party. If you plan to work remote, DSL internet was not stable and did go out. My AT&T cellphone hotspot was slow, but manageable. Cell phone reception is acceptable, considering remoteness of the area. Overall, we had a remarkable vacation visiting the Glacier National Park.

Spacious, serene and close to west gate. The pictures were accurate and the hosts communicated well. We had an issue with the cleaning crew and the hosts worked diligently to remedy it. The kitchen was well-equipped, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of a space for our family of 5. We enjoyed dinners on the porch and seeing the wildlife (turtles and deer). There was a range of games and puzzles for hiking breaks. The wifi was slow, but not a big deal as we weren’t using it for work from home, just searching for trails, etc. We enjoyed our stay!

House was perfect for our relaxing and refueling after a day on the trails. Close to Glacier's West Entrance. Kitchen is well equipped, especially for those who cook. Prepared all meals in and enjoyed having everything we needed handy, plus some. Would love to stay here again when returning to explore more of GNP. Kathy was great at communicating and anticipating needs.

Beautiful private setting. Lovely cabin with everything we needed and wanted. Close to the park yet very authentic and out of the way. Clean and perfect for our trip to Glacier and the surrounding area.
