Nice property and close to town

Five of us who are living in Panama picked out this rental to spend three nights at during our required "six month border run." Although we had a car, it would be simple to reach this property by taking the Golfito bus from the border with Panama. A bus into town from the rental was under a dollar and taxis were less than $4. Taking a bus would have saved us the hassle and time of bringing a car across the border. It was nice to stay a little ways out of town and enjoy nature. It's not far from the road, but we didn't notice road noise. The views from the main porch were fantastic. Although the interior of the main house was very nice, we spent almost all of our waking time at the property on the porch or in the swimming pool. When we arrived there was a beautiful arrangement of fresh flowers waiting for us and a number of small vases with flowers. The grounds were lovely. I highly recommend this property.

Three three sleeping rooms and plenty of communal space. Between the ceiling fans and the breezes off the gulf, the house stays nice and cool. Huge patio with comfy chairs, a hammock, shade, and breezes. Great place to hang out all day to watch birds. The grounds are spectacular: we saw toucans, macaws, tanagers, hummingbirds, and parakeets. When we wondered about a bird we were seeing, we could consult the extensive collection of guidebooks in the bookcase. The pool was deep and cool. We spent hours lazing around enjoying the view. The caretaker was very helpful and friendly: brought us fresh flowers and fruit, and was quick to respond to our questions and minor issues. Very well equipped kitchen, and it was nice to have a washer and dryer. New and luxurious linens on the beds. Comfortable mattresses. Across the street from the entrance of the property is a bar that does basic dinners. We thought the fried chicken was great. And a few miles down the road toward the main highway is a soda (cafe) called The Garden that had fresh fish and basic Costa Rican food at some of the best prices we'd seen in the area. We took the ferry over to Puerto Jimenez for the day and found nice beaches and a kayak tour of the mangrove swamps. This property would be best for people who know each other well, as the cabinas lack sound privacy, and the bed in the main house is open to the living room and kitchen.
