Beachfront Home at the world famous Banzai Pipeline

The location of this property is spectacular. We had several humpback whale sightings, including a mom and baby right off the beach and three whales breaching/romping over and over, close-in directly in front of the house - our personal show! Stunning beach and private home, although do not expect to swim in front of house alot given strong currents at times. Nearby food truck vendors were fantastic. Close to groceries - where all the mac nuts, snorkel and beach gear you could need are avail, fantastic poke, too. Hale'iwa town is historic and charming. Lazy days on the beach without the press of tourists. Snorkeling at Turtle Bay. Waimea Valley waterfall - so special. North Shore at its best. Special spirit of place. Some beach gear left behind from others; we added donations. Property meant for small group, unlike the large renovations in the area. Steps from famous Volcom house and other surf legends of Pipeline beach. Traffic leaving north shore in afternoons requires planning. We did a paddle-along outrigger canoe ride on Waikiki beach like my sis and I did as kids. Super special for surfer nephews to get to connect a little with the soul of aloha that way (in spite of the vegas-feel of waikiki). Great homebase for Oahu visit. If we return to this house, we would not leave the north shore at all. What you are paying for with this home is location, which is awesome. Pipe, Sunset, Shark's Cove, food tucks and grocery store are all within a 15 minute walk at the farthest. The driveway is also gated.The home is an older beach house with a spacious side yard and is clean and well maintained. Showers and appliances work well. The sleeping loft seems like it would be fun for kids but you cannot stand in it, it's a crawler even for a petite adult although It has a great view of the ocean.The host was easy to communicate with and we had no issues during our stay. We did not need it but note that the AC does cost a little bit extra to use.

Great location in a beautiful part of an awesome island.

In order to plan the perfect Hawaiian getaway, one that would put my dreamy honeymoon to shame, I channeled my inner Monica from Friends. I researched for days, cross-referencing every review site and travel blog and adventure listicle under the sun. With enough historical, and geographical information to give Lewis & Clark a run for their money, it was decided that Oahu was the place to be. We came across this beachside bungalow and were instantly charmed, it also checked off all the right amenities. The stunning pictures do not even do it justice. An expansive grassy yard, fully gated, 100 yards from the sand and the glorious ocean? Are you kidding me?! Paradise, we know her now. If you’re familiar with Los Angeles, North Shore is quite similar to staying in Malibu with its picturesque views and ideal location equidistant to nature, the city, local mainstays, and the historic town of Haleiwa when it’s time to shop. From this perfect bungalow, our access to activities sounds downright fictional. On land, we bike, hike, and discover local food trucks. On the water, we boat, kayak, snorkel, swim with turtles, and watch dolphins (yes, dolphins) splash in the surf. Best of all, the owner is kind, gracious, accommodating, and treats us like family (ditto for the local contact Betty). Even when Hurricane Douglas threatened to roll through, we felt looked after and as though we were truly part of the community. This place is pure magic and I couldn’t recommend it more. That is, if we ever leave and let someone else enjoy it in our place.
