About this cabin rental

A three-bedroom, A-shape log cabin, Marlene’s Hideaway is a delight in and of itself. Making it even more enticing is its location within the White Oak Resort. Not only is the resort packed with amenities, but it is also just a short drive from area’s numerous attractions.

Resembling an Alpine chalet but set among the towering trees and foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Marlene’s Hideaway can sleep as many as six people in comfort and rustic style. The primary bedroom, located on the main floor, features a comfortable king-size bed with a well-padded leather headboard, so that you can easily prop yourself up to read, watch TV or surf the web while remaining cozy beneath the covers. The other two bedrooms, each of which has a log-frame queen-size bed, are upstairs. All three bedrooms include a TV, a ceiling fan, lustrous wood-planked walls, floors and ceilings.

Each floor has its own bathroom, and each bathroom includes dual sinks and vanities so that everyone can get prepped and primped in record time. The upstairs bathroom has an additional perk: a jetted tub. After hiking, skiing or experiencing every ride at Dollywood, a long soak is just the rejuvenation you’ll need!

The open, airy living area makes up most of the main floor. Here, too, you’ll find gleaming wood walls, floors and ceilings. On chilly winter evenings the flicker from the stone-surround fireplace will bathe them in a golden glow. Add to that the supreme comfort of the leather couches and you might never want to leave. Luckily there’s free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV with cable to keep you entertained as laze.

The handsome dining table seats six, and the cushioned chairs will encourage you to linger long after the dessert course. The kitchen, clad in black granite and the same richly figured wood as the rest of Marlene’s Hideaway, is equipped with just about every appliance, tool and gadget you could possibly need. Even if you eat your main meals at the numerous nearby restaurants, you’ll appreciate having a coffeemaker for your morning cup of joe, a blender for mixing smoothies in the morning and margaritas at night and a refrigerator where you can store milk, juice and ice cream.

Marlene’s Hideaway has both a front porch and a rear deck, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to revel in the mountain breezes and the singing of wrens, larks and warblers. The screened-in rear deck is home to the outdoor hot tub. A soak with friends is a wonderful way to end an action-packed day.

Because Marlene’s Hideaway is located within Gatlinburg’s White Oak Resort, during your stay you can take advantage of the resort’s many amenities. During the warm-weather months these include a large outdoor swimming pool with a grotto and a waterfall that the kids will love playing in. Surrounding the pool is a patio furnished with plenty of chaises where you can soak up the sun, plus a soothing whirlpool. The resort also has outdoor gas grills, tennis courts, basketball hoops and horseshoe pits.

You could easily while away entire days without leaving the resort’s premises. That said, you’ll want to take advantage of the cabin’s proximity to the local attractions. For instance, Marlene’s Hideaway is only five minutes from Climb Works, where you can get a bird’s-eye view of the mountains while ziplining. Just a bit farther in the opposite direction is the Great Smoky Arts and Crafts Community, an eight-mile trail of shops, studios and galleries. Just 15 minutes from the cabin is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and in less than 20 minutes you can drive to downtown Gatlinburg, home to thrill rides, restaurants, distilleries, arcades, shops and more.

So, what are you waiting for? Book your stay at Marlene’s Hideaway today—before someone beats you to it!

We stayed from Oct.11-17. Our cabin -Marleen's Getaway- was not private- it is located in a 'resort'-type neighborhood surrounded by loads of neighbors! Thankfully the back porch faced the woods! It would be great for a family with kids- but I wouldn't recommend it for a couple looking for a 'private cabin in the woods'. I didn't realize I had to CLIMB up 3 feet just to get into bed, lol, either! Then, instead of "upscale finishes", we discovered #1)NO USB PORTS anywhere (!) we did let the Guest Services know. But we never mentioned Cabin needs some other help:#2)Noted a mega-chip in right rear burner of the glass top stove, as we prepared to make 1st breakfast - (Logged photo!) That's DANGEROUS!!3)Noted deep gash where each door-knob hits wood walls, lol. (Logged photos).4) Kitchen's granite-top sink has a decent crack through at base between the 2 sinks with large chips. (Logged photos).5)The center of every dining room chair's seat fully deflates when sat upon & even stays stretched/deflated afterward, so you sink INTO seat, instead of ON a cushioned seat. 6)The leather of livingroom sofas is peeling and thread-bare (& seat cushions are not reversible); sitting in the end/corner seat itself is like sinking into a bottomless hole; a strip of the dark lining lays on the floor from under back lower edge of sofa-(a tripping hazard when walking behind the sofa). But the location from nearby things to do was great & we appreciated the working fireplace and hottub.

Overall the cabin is nice. The cleaning service could certainly do a better job in between stays but it wasn’t that big of a deal. You don’t go to the smoky mountains to watch tv, but this cabin is definitely due for an upgrade. The two bedrooms upstairs have TVs the size of a iPad. The stairs from the driveway to the front porch/door are not the greatest. If you had elderly it may be better to stay in one of the other cabins at this location that doesn’t have all the stairs to make entry. This cabin is at the top of the hill and has a great view from the window upstairs. The pool area is pretty nice and also offers a nice view of the mountains while you sit and relax. This spot is far enough from downtown Gatlinburg to feel relaxing but close enough that you don’t waste a bunch of vacation time driving to and from.

We loved the property. We were 30 minutes away from trails at the Smoky Mountains and had a nice cabin with a community pool to return to after hiking all day. Only minor thing to be aware of is if your stay is long, they only supply you with a starter amount of dish soap and coffee. You also need to supply your own laundry soap as well.

This property is amazing. The pool area (kids loved the waterfalls and warmer small pool), workout room and house are perfect for hanging out and relaxing as a family. Quiet community, very pretty view.

Cabin was great. The access is very steep at this particular cabin but there are other options at the same resort for someone with mobility issues. The amenities were nice. The kids had a great time in the pool and hot tub. It was also nice that there were several propane grills throughout the resort to use.
