About this house rental

This home was built with details in mind and spared no expense. The master bedroom features vaulted ceilings, travertine floors, vanity area, large closet space, and gorgeous bed. The kitchen is a cooks kitchen with every amenity you could imagine. Please note we have a SMART TV (use for Netflix, Hulu, etc), but no local cable access. The front yard features an outdoor living room area that is quaint and private with a BBQ pit, table and seating for 9. The backyard/courtyard features decks, shared fire pit, another gas BBQ grill, and ample seating in a serene lush and relaxing environment.
We are 2 blocks from the beach and next door to a coffee and tea house with awesome Acai bowls and sandwiches. It is one block near restaurants, bike shop, deli, supermarket, nail salon, antique shops, surf lessons, skate shop and so much more. The home is located at 4884 Santa Monica Avenue, Ocean Beach, CA 92107 (corner of Cable Street and Santa Monica Avenue). Everything you need is at your fingertips. Stroll to the The Farmer's Market on Wednesdays, which is one block from the property to enjoy fresh food, live music, organic produce and fresh fish. Enjoy the bikes on the property. The house itself is nice BUT the neighborhood is sketchy and its located next to businesses one being a bar across the street. Its loud if there is a game playing at the bar. The beds on the website are not accurate. Advertised when I booked was 2 rooms with queen beds and one room with a bunk (full and twin combo) and 2 double beds. The listing changed before my trip to bunkbeds with one double and one twin - this was not the case. There is one bedroom with a queen, one bedroom with a queen and a double, one bedroom with a bunkbed ONLY. I contacted to manager and she said "I hope there is enough room for your family." She offered to give me a free parking space. For this house you have to pay 15.00 a day to use the parking space that is in front of the house (should be free). I have contacted VRBO several times who calls the manager and then nothing is done - its been a week and I paid a lot of money for this home. Half my family left b/c we did not have enough beds. Also no AC - so hot and miserable in the summer. Homeless people outside walking around at night.

The overall property is very comforting and spacious. Communication with the host and property manager was very nice A must stay if you want to visit SeaWorld, Legoland and the beaches around San Diego.

The location is perfectly situated just off the main boulevard and short walk to the beach! Everything you need is within walking distance. Remember to arrange parking if needed. The property was clean and very spacious. The courtyard firepit was a great feature you don’t normally get. Our host was very accessible for questions and made the process easy.

The house was very nice and suited our needs overall. We did have pretty significant water problems, though. The water in the primary bathroom shower did not work while they had a plumber come and look at it It still did not work consistently. The owners did discount out and refunded some of my cleaning deposit which was nice. The Wi-Fi was also not very consistent and there is no air conditioning. The location of the property was very, very nice though! There were also very limited cleaning supplies available, which was difficult because it’s so sandy and one could not vacuum during our weeklong stay. The communication with the property manager was very good, though they replied back to me very quickly.

I took three teenage granddaughters and it was a perfect,safe location for them to walk to the beach plus shopping and eating all within a short distance. The home was well appointed and comfortable. Tracy was also easy to reach with any questions. My brother and his wife also joined us and it was a quick trip to the San Diego Zoo and Old Town. We would definitely book another stay.

Over all it was a good stay. The place has 3 bedrooms, one of which has a den with a 4th bed. There are also, indeed, 3 full bathrooms. The pictures and description in the listing are confusing: listing says 2 bathrooms but pics show 3 & # of bedrooms is unclear. House was very clean. Neighborhood feels sketchy at night but it is in walking distance from the beach and all of downtown. Different feel during the day. Also, the AC didn't work well enough to cool the place down at night, and hard to sleep with windows open due to very loud air traffic noise and questionable illegal activity in the neighborhood. There was a helicopter circling for 30 mins around midnight one of the nights and drunken brawl with lots of yelling just one house over. Despite the negatives, it was one of the best placed we've stayed at in OB. Haley was easy to contact, and offered assistance when needed. I'm not sure I'd stay again just due to not sleeping well because of the heat and noise.

Arrived on Wednesday parking was packed because of a fantastic farmers market type event a street over, great food and fresh fruit that's every Wednesday so pay for the parking spot if you arrive on that day.Nice place fantastic location. Sunset cliffs 10 minute drive, beach is super close restaurants and shopping all walkable. beach wagon is not usable wheels are bent, could not figure out the jacuzzi tub jets, no DVD player, but did have net flix, would recommend this place either short term or longer based on location to everything.

Such an incredible, large house full of amenities in an unbeatable location! We fit 8 adults comfortably into the house and really enjoyed the well equipped kitchen, fire pit, beach towels, and other thoughtful amenities provided. It was about a 5 minute walk to the beach and just one street over from the main street of Ocean Beach. Super close to the action, activities, and shopping but still a very quiet house to chill in, even on the 4th of July. Couldn't have had a better stay!

Property was awesome! I will definitely be visiting and staying there again. Walking distance to many bars and little restaurants. Right across from CVS and a street over from target. We had no issues with parking (we had a total of 2 vehicles). There will be one assigned parking but a lot of street parking right outside the front gate. Scott, the property manager was awesome. He communicated with us and kept that line open.

Our stay was just what we needed. The home and management team were quite accommodating and quick to respond when needed. Just a few hundred yards from the main lifeguard tower and extremely close to dining and shopping. Lots of room to share with family and friends. Would definitely book again!

This was a great location for those that needed to walk to places. Lots of foot traffic in front of house. It is like a small house with multiple units in property. The bedroom location was a little different having to walk through one bedroom to get to another was weird. Great gas fire pit in back though and Scott was good to deal with re: entry and parking.

The house was very comfortable and reasonably priced. It fit our family perfectly and we even found an extra bedroom, you walked through that room to get to the back bedroom but we didn’t mind that and were happy to have extra sleeping space. The kitchen was well furnished and there were plenty of towels and blankets. The house is a two block walk to the beach and the rest of Ocean Beach. There’s a 24 hour drug store in the same block. The only bad thing was no cable TV (no news, kids’ programs, etc,) and we initially had problems connecting with the WiFi.

I would recommend staying here - it was clean, comfortable and a great location. The property managers were very responsive leading up to and during our stay. It is a short walk to the beach and there are plenty of beach toys and necessities provided. We loved getting coffee and breakfast from the shop next door and enjoying it on the front porch.

This property worked out perfectly for us. We enjoyed the super convenient location. Coffee in the front patio in the mornings and drinks by the firepit in the evenings. Having a parking space is huge for SD. Will definitely stay at this loction again.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Many premium details and in a fantastic location. Great pillows, plenty of towels and dishes. We had a couple family dinners and there was plenty of room and seating. The layout is a little quirky and the beds are all queens or smaller. Also, If you are not a Christian, you may be uncomfortable due to bible scriptures and crosses on the walls, but otherwise a fantastic place. Scott was very helpful and pleasant to work with. We throughly enjoyed our stay and will plan to go back.

We had a wonderful stay here in OB. I’ve lived in OB off & on for 10 years, so it was great to come back for a visit. This location is prime! Plenty of space in the house and never felt crowded, even when we had friends and local family over to visit. The master bedroom is huge with an amazing bathroom. The kids loved the bunk room. And the third room has its own living area on the otherside of the house, which was great for my parents. I have always loved the coffee shop next door, so it was perfect waking up and heading right there. This place is perfect to walk everywhere- to local shops, bar, restaurants, beach. Plus Scott the property manager was so friendly with helping out with whatever we needed! A couple drawbacks though - there is no cable or local TV. So if you don’t have Netflix your out of luck. My parents are older and like to watch the news, which they couldn’t. I think the owner should consider getting basic cable for his guests. The kitchen sink water never would get hot, so makes washing some dishes a pain. I would definitely stay here again

The rental unit is great for a larger group of people. A wonderful coffee shop is next door and the beach is 2 blocks away. Also, they were very accommodating for checking in and checking out. Hope to stay here again in the future.

We loved our time in Ocean Beach at this wonderful little house. The space accommodated our family gatherings with a great table and sleeping areas. The master was exceptional!! The location gave us all walking distance to the beach, pier, shops and restaurants. Wednesday Farmer's Market was the best!! So glad we were there on a Wednesday! There was one hide abed that was very uncomfortable for whomever tried to sleep there. Maybe time for a new one! The internet was iffy but was fixed quickly. The TV was only Netflix, which wasn't a problem for us but could be for those who were wanting full TV access or who didn't have a Netflix account.

We were delighted with the proximity to the beach, plenty of restaurants within a few minutes walk. A nice grocery store too. We all enjoyed the little coffee shop right next door. The master bedroom suite was beautiful and comfy and was definitely the highlight of the house. The kitchen could use a little attention and updating. The large selection of spices on the spice rack expired a few years ago--probably the last time the kitchen had some serious care. There were plenty of plates, glasses and silverware though. Everyone enjoyed both the front private patio and the shared patio with the fire pit at night. Scott, the property manager, was available and pleasant. All 9 of us (visiting during the Thanksgiving holidays from Fairfield County, CT) would be happy to stay here again.

Plenty of room in this house for our family get together. The patio out front during the evenings was a big hit with everyone. We appreciated the extra beach chairs for our days/nights on the beach. There are no lack of great restaurants within walking distance of this property. Everyone had a blast!

Such a lovely location right next door to a great little coffee shop walking distance to shopping, the beach, church. Huge private patio in the front, large common patio in the back complete with seating and gas fire pit. Very well stocked kitchen!!! Newer appliances, gas range. Walk in closets with high chair and portable crib if needed. Large romantic master suite with fireplace open to bedroom and large jacuzzi tub and huge shower room. Only thing I wish it had was a ceiling fan in each bedroom but there were floor fans which worked as well. Can comfortably sleep 10 to 12 people. Full sized washer and dryer in unit, 2 full baths. Private parking space directly in front of the home. Quick return of deposit. Super responsive and quick to accept reservation once requested!

I was most impressed by how thoughtful the owners have been in preparing this home for guests; we had two small children with us and there was a high chair and Pack and Play on site for us to use. Most everything you need is available to you, including beach chairs and stuff to help you look stupid in the surf! We knew to bring a couple of fans from prior reviews and with them the rooms are comfortable (it's the coast, people; you don't need A/C and shouldn't gripe when you don't get it). The location of this home is ideal: walk out the door, hang a right and it's a straight shot to the beach two blocks away. OB is an awesome, laid-back beach community and this house puts you right in the middle of it. Lastly, a shout out to Scott, the caretaker on site. He's just a genuinely nice guy, eager to please and clearly pleased himself that you're staying there. He keeps a low profile, but there if you need him and a pleasant character to be around. We really had no complaints; it's a nice, clean house with everything you'd expect and in close proximity to all Ocean Beach has to offer. I will definitely look to rent here again the next time we come out!
