Ferienwohnung Margot

Die Ferienwohnung lag in einer ruhigen Straße etwas abseits des Stadtzentrums. Dieses war aber immer noch in gut 10 Minuten zu Fuß zu erreichen. Das war für uns kein Problem. Die Wohnung war sehr gut ausgestattet. Es hat uns an nichts gefehlt. Alles war sehr sauber und aufgeräumt in der Wohnung. Wir hatten ein paar sehr angenehme und erholsame Tage mit der Familie. Wir können die Wohnung daher nur sehr empfehlen.

Man kann nichts negatives sagen. Für manche ist das Bad sehr klein und eng, was auch so ist, aber für uns war es kein Problem. Das Bad hatte alles, was man braucht und war sauber!

The house is nice and typically German. The garden is interesting but very unkempt and uninviting. All in all this doesn't look like a vacation rental from outside. However, this is fully compensated by a modernised and very new-looking apartment interior. The furniture reminds me of my grand parents' generation but everything is new so I expect this is just German style. Everything functions perfectly, from kitchen appliances to the electric leverage bed. We felt well at home here with two adults and two children. The apartment would suit a larger family or two couples of adults and two children, as one bedroom houses a double bed and the other a double bed and bunk bed.

Somewhat chaotic arrival - the key was easily retrieved from the code box but the front door would not budge. We called the emergency number and they sent assistance within 5 minutes. Turns out there was a specific trick to pulling the door and turning the key at the same time. That I would have liked to know in advance. Parking in front of the house is free and was generally available along the curb no more than 100m from the house. However, on Tuesday between 8 and 9 the street was supposed to be cleaned and we had to buy expensive parking down town as we had no idea where we might park for free close by. However, on Tuesday morning the street was full of other cars and the sweeping truck just cleaned one side. One major point for us was that the kitchen is laid out without a dish washing machine, and with practically no working surfaces (for cutting, mixing...). Space has been prioritised for storage cupboards with enough dishes for 6 or more meals, two kitchen sinks and a 2-person breakfast table. Also, the bathroom has been fitted with heating in the floor which is really nice in the winter I guess (we went in the summer), but as the door to the bathroom is simultaneously made very low, the result is a room with a 12cm step up and a head-knocking door frame. The apartment is the middle apartment, which means that the ground floor and roof apartment are lived in (all year round). The door to the stairwell from the apartment has stained glass windows making the central hallway of the apartment very visible from outside. Also, light from the hallway which is activated by a push-button, floods in at night when the other occupants return (often late and noisy). All in all, a fairly priced apartment with lots of space for kids as well, but some downsides that are at least nice to know in advance.
