About this cabin rental
Beautiful peaceful bay on the Houghton Canal, great for any water sports, fishing, hunting or just taking in all the beauty the Keweenaw has to offer! There is a deck on each cabin, a deck by the water and a dock. All three cabins are fully equipped with linens, and kitchen ware, cable TV and wifi internet provided. For motor sports enthusiast, these cabins are located roughly 3.5 miles from the nearest trail crossing.

The location in relationship to Houghton was perfect. Not too far out but not downtown. We came to visit out daughter at Michigan Tech and stayed the weekend. The property on the water was beautiful and peaceful. A great get away that allowed us to visit and take in the views.
The accommodations left a bit to be desired. The cabin seemed hastily finished: trim was missing. Wires coming out of the wall, miss-matched carpeting in the bedroom, unfinished floors in the other two.
Some safety issues that bothered me were nails sticking up from the wooden dock patio. The step down onto the dock. No batteries in a smoke detector and the other one was disconnected. (This may have not been the owner's fault due to tenants cooking, but they should be checked periodically.) there was no hot water in the kitchen which made it difficult to really get the dishes clean. It left me to wonder how clean the previous tenant left them with no dishwasher.
If you are looking for a place to crash, this would fit the bill. It's clean and not terrible. Slightly over priced for what you get but we will probably look elsewhere next time we come up to visit.
