Due to a week-long conference at the nearby Tung-Hwa University with some of my students, we decided to choose this local hostel instead of hotels in Hualien city. The madam (boss) is very kind and indeed offers us free breakfast every day. It seems that we are the only guests in the entire building, making it very relaxing. The surroundings are tranquil during the night. The room is clean, and complimentary bottles of mineral water are provided in unlimited quantities, which is extremely helpful given the hot weather. A 15-minute walk will take you to the main road of the town, where there are many restaurants available.
It's still quite far from the campus; it takes about 25 minutes to walk to the main gate and even longer to reach the destination building. But it is inevitable as the campus is very isolated indeed.
