About this house rental

A small quirky Grade II listed house situated in the heart of Southsea. Fantastic central location for Southsea Common, Southsea shopping precinct and Old Portsmouth. Please be advised that the staircase is steep and not suitable for anyone with limited mobility or young children who are not confident walkers. ( I can provide a stair gate at the bottom of the stairs but none are available upstairs).

After an exciting day exploring the sights of Portsmouth and Southsea come home to this cosy terrace cottage in this friendly residential area.

Full internet access and smart TV to access your own Netflix or other online media accounts are provided for your entertainment should you wish to have a quiet night in. The small nature of the property means that there is only one double and a single seater sofa in the snug lounge area as seen in the photos...plus two small wooden arm chairs for extra seating. Alternatively there is a wide selection of pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. (from 2 - 10 minutes walk).

It has a feature wooden spiral staircase leading up to the 2 double bedrooms and higher still into the dual aspect attic space where a two single beds are located.

The original building has been extended to the rear where the neat bathroom and well appointed kitchen are both located on the ground floor. Both bathroom and kitchen posses sky lights to give that extra feeling of light.

The small enclosed courtyard at the rear houses the freezer, washing machine and drying area.

All bed linen and towels are provided.

Scratch card Parking Permits( KD Zone) will be provided for the duration of your stay and possibly once parked you will be able to explore the delights of the area on foot and forget about your car until you leave.

Parking is not guaranteed in the parking zone but there is plenty of paid for parking available around the common extremely close to the property for most of the year. Parking around the common is restricted close to the August bank holiday due to the Victorious Festival...please ask for more info before booking at this time.

Alison was an excellent host, giving us help to plan our stay including bus timetables. Spice cottage is a quirky historical building with stairs like those in a lighthouse. Comfortable furniture and brilliantly situated near the coast and the historic harbour. We particularly enjoyed the dday museum (our relatives) and the Mary Rose (us).Lots of good restaurants nearby, and the house extremely well equipped for cooking in the spacious kitchen. We easily got a parking place the first street on the left and just walked or bused everywhere.

Can highly recommend the Spice Cottage for a break in Portsmouth. The location is very good for the Hovercraft, Southsea and the seafront. Parking is very easy too. The cottage is very well equipped, immaculately clean and just a lovely relaxing place to stay. Our two year old boy loved the adventure of the stairs which with a little practice became easy to navigate. Alison was an exceptional host who left a brilliant guide for our stay and map for us when we arrived. Alison also was easy to communicate with and keen to make sure our stay was enjoyable. These little touches were really appreciated. Thank you Alison!

We stayed here recently for our sister's wedding nearby. The accommodation was perfect for us and our family. The location was perfect. Loads of little shops near by. Parking was a doddle. Can't wait to return to Portsmouth again and we will definitely be staying here. X

Spice Cottage was exactly as described in the listing: a wonderful historic house convenient to Southsea and Portsmouth attractions. Beautiful woodwork (and stairs) give the feeling of staying in an antique ship without setting sail. The rooms are thoughtfully equipped and the kitchen well stocked. Our host was responsive and welcoming and made sure we had what we needed. What more could one want? Highly recommended.

Everything was great but where this cottage is, is the most important part. Near to everything!!! Beds were comfy, kitchen was well stocked.....exactly what you need for a home away from home!!
