Long term rental, Jamaica Cove Camp, great home on Canal in Jamaica Beach with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, sleeps 6. Upstairs includes Central A/C, 3 bedrooms, Living room with Cable TV/DVD Player. Fully equipped kitchen dining table, breakfast bar, Drip Coffee Pot, Dishwasher, Microwave and Washer/ Dryer. Large upper deck facing the canal with table and chairs for seating. Charcoal BBQ Grill available.
Community pool and park in Jamaica Beach. Pool fee for daily use fee paid at pool directly. Season usually is Memorial Day to Labor Day. Cable and WIFI provided. Internet Access/Cable service can be unreliable on West Galveston Island. My family and I had an amazing stay at the property. Lots of fish biting right off the dock . The home is in a beautiful neighborhood close to beach access . We look forward to coming back next year!!

The house was a good place to stay. The beds were hard and springy, there were cockroaches in the house… big ones! The WiFi would allow you to connect to it, but there was no internet connection. We were given two sets of keys upon arrival, and only one key worked to the property. Also the house was not level. The back door couldn’t open all the way, which was really annoying! If we were any larger than we were, we wouldn’t have been able to use the back door to the deck at all. We found cockroaches in the house, which I think we killed about 15 of them. Overall I’d say that I’d give this place about a 2.5 star rating. The house definitely needs some work done on it, and some maintenance.

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was okay. We were outside most of the time at a neighboring house, which is why we chose this house in the first place. A/C worked great, which is important. Queen beds were comfortable enough. The twin beds were very hard and one was missing one roller so the bed slanted down on one side. Because the house has shifted, doors don't shut that well and there is a slope to the house. Front door lock is hard to open. Carpet is old. Guest bathroom shower drain leaks to the outside and down the side of the house. Drawers in kitchen hard to open and close. Just a reminder no extra paper goods or trash bags. Be sure to bring your own as well as soap and shampoo, etc. We did see a few (five) roaches during our stay. We've stayed here the last two years and will probably not stay again. Management company was easy to contact when needed.

The room downstairs had mold on the wall and spider webs at the entry. Although there were some nice upgrades upstairs, there were some issues with bugs/ roaches. After cleaning and wiping down counters, I left the drying mat on the counter only to walk in the following morning with bugs crawling around in the kitchen. The kitchen only has a single sink, and the faucet is stationary, making it not very convenient. The garbage disposal did not work, and I purchased a stopper for the sink. When I went into the guest bathroom, a huge brown roach crawled around in the shower. This is minor, but instead of putting a bottle of handsoap in both bathrooms, whatever little soap was left behind had water added to dilute and thin it out. Fortunately, I brought hand soap. Unfortunately, I forgot one and left it.

We really enjoyed our stay here. House was clean and spacious! The extra room downstairs to store fishing and beach stuff in was super cool. Made it very easy to keep sandy things not in the main house. Also having the bathroom down stairs, made it so kids werent running up and down the stairs soaking wet! Fishing wasnt that great but neighbor did tell us it had been a rough go as of late. Neighbor does have 3 dogs who are friendly and will come on over! I have a 4 year old and all of them loved her and let her love on them! Air vents are noisy but it does work well! If you are in the main suit when it kicks on and off it is very loud in that room! It worked well for our family of 4!

It's a great location and very accessible to all you need. There is only 1 thing that should be addressed. The master bedroom is so much colder than the rest of the house.
The neighbors are very nice. We spent most of our time under the house by the canal as it is very calming and relaxing.

This was our first canal house rental in Jamaica Beach. We loved it! Family of 4 and had day visits from Auntie and Cousin who live close. Well stocked kitchen. Cold fridge, booze fridge major bonus. Kids loved jumping into the canal, floating around and fishing at night. Bring a rope and floating device so you can climb out of canal. No ladder. Rental gals were fabulous. Easy key pick up at entry of neighborhood. We will be back.

Checking in was a little more difficult than other properties because the key must be picked up at a secondary location. However, the location is convenient to amenities, and is right on the canal which makes fishing and kayaking easy. The deck is high up so that high tide doesn't affect usage, and we were able to enjoy the outside space the entire time. The kitchen was decently stocked- could use sharper knives and we were missing a wire brush to clean the grill. The water pressure was great throughout the house, The beds were were comfortable and the bedding was average. Cleanliness of the house was good- we noticed some spiders around, so may be time for an exterminator. This was our second stay, so we obviously would recommend it as a great spot for a weekend fishing with the guys.

Bedroom and bath down stairs needed some airing out but main house was great, really an inconvenience with not having paper products provided, especially with a late check in.. and only provide 1 towel and wash rag per person for entire visit, this was not great hosting but we made do. ( note to self add towels to your travel packing) neighbors on right were fun and friendly the one on the left calls police from his home somewhere else! Not so friendly... Tv shown on patio area did not work, but overall a good experience.

The house was very well located, right on the water. Perfect for a long weekend of fishing with friends. Plenty of deck space and shade to enjoy the outdoors and view. Lots of sleeping space, and even a bonus bed/bath downstairs we didn't recall in the listing. Do be sure to bring supplies with you (TP, soaps, and maybe your own towels and favorite kitchen items) as the house didn't have as many personal touches as you may have found in other vrbo's, but overall, it was a great value and we would stay here again.

Beautiful view of canal, fish, sunrise and sunset, great breeze. House is nice, a/c works well. There is a strong odor coming from the ground level floor closet, not sure if mold or insecticide, however, you cannot smell this in the house. Could use a few repairs, Master bath door doesn't close, problems with stove, but available bar-b-q saved the day. Great place to get away, enjoyed it very much.

The location on the bay was nice, however there is no ladder off the deck to help with getting in and out of the water. This was a bummer because my kids struggled to get out of the water. Beware of using neighbors dock ladder access, they called the police on us. The house it self wasn’t very clean. The carpet looked and felt like it hadn’t been decently vacuumed in months. There were left over fruit loops on the carpet from previous tenants as my family didn’t bring fruit loops. There are no electric outlets on the upper deck outside. The bedding could be softer. My kids didn’t seem to mind anything other than the lack of ladder and rough bedding.

That said, I’m a germaphobe and the mouse droppings on the window sills indicated two things- an indifferent housekeeper (utensils and dishes in cupboards were greasy and dusty) and a place that isn’t lived in often. The house is nicely appointed, beds comfortable and linens clean. Bathrooms are new and nicely done- they were clean. The main one doesn’t lock the one in the master doesn’t even close, but the master door does so u can make do for privacy. They’ve used a linen service so there are cute little bundles for each person but u will have to wash them yourself after a day - they only give u one set per person. No extras and no beach towels. Bring everything u need ( aluminum foil, plastic wrap baggies) as they don’t have it here. The kitchen is well equipped to make meals, though the stove was a bit dirty. Changing housekeepers and a few more fixes like the doors would make this a five star place!

Immediately called the office and they said someone would come the next morning to clean the carpet. What that entailed was coming with some orange spray and spraying it everywhere. So then we had citrus smelling dirty socks. We ended up leaving windows and doors open. Aside from this, the home is spacious and well stocked. The carpet needs to be replaced, but everything else was okay. The home needs a deep cleaning, and the vents needs to be cleaned as they are the source of the "dirty sock smell." In fairness, the owner did return one nights pay for the expenses we incurred to try to clean the first night when property management couldn't come until the next day. GREAT location!
