Not our place

Central location. WiFi available.

It's not an apartment, it's an old bar with now some beds in it. Even though it has 2 spaces, they made only the beds in the communal area where the bar also is located (the only heated area), so we could only use that small cramped space. Everything was incredibly old and damaged, and dusty/sticky. The shower has no shower curtain, so the whole bathroom gets wet. The metal frame in the mattress stings right into your body. A camera was hanging up in the area where we were sleeping... probably (hopefully) turned off, but very strange anyway. We were asked to pay extra for city taxes, even though Booking.com mentioned those to be much cheaper (he said it was specified wrong on booking.com - well, then change it). Had to engage in an awkward discussion regarding this, not what you want after a long journey. We stayed longer in Kavadarci, but elsewhere. .

No problems

We felt right at home. The host is very friendly and welcoming. He even gave us a loaf of bread that he baked himself and always answered our questions. The Homestay is a ~15 min walk from downtown but is right next to a delicious restaurant and is just a short walk from the interesting looking WWII memorial monument.

We had to pay extra because of a city tax even though booking.com said taxes were included in the price. I have dealt with homestays before in which this was a scam so I am always pretty apprehensive but this case seemed to be a genuine mistake.
