About this cottage rental
Sam Hill's Cottage, built in 1934, has the charm of Prescott history with the conveniences of today (NEW CENTRAL AC!!!) . Owned by a descendant of Sam Hill and nestled among granite hills, our cottage is a true Prescott experience. Founded in 1877 The Sam'l Hill Hardware Company was destroyed along with the rest of Whiskey Row on Montezuma Street during the infamous Prescott Fire. By 1903 the rebuilt store soon became the region's largest hardware supplier. "Why in the Sam Hill are you telling me this" you ask? Because we want you to experience Prescott past and present in Sam Hill's Cottage.

Sam Hill Cottage is nestled at the end of a short street -- no traffic, no noise with only a short drive to downtown Prescott, grocery stores, and other activities (fair grounds/rodeo/restaurants). It's beautifully refurbished with a well-equipped modern kitchen and separate washer/dryer room. The host was readily accessible and helpful. We will definitely stay there again. Jim & Karel

Had a great time. Place was perfect size for our needs, although the listing stated the living room couch was a pull out bed and it's not. Loved the shaded patio for breakfast. Perfectly tucked away, but close to historic district.

This is a very nice property. We have modest needs, however, this property certainly met our minimum: very clean, the water was hot enough and it was very comfortable. In addition to that, I'll mention a few other things because it's not always present in other properties:- the mattress was very comfortable. No problem sleeping at night. There was ample amounts of blankets & comforters on the bed already. It does get cold in Prescott at time and it was nice not having to search for extra blankets and such. There were extra blankets in the closets but we were all set. - The kitchen was well stocked with appliances. Toaster, coffee brewer, hot water boiler, gas stove (nice to have), clean refridge & pots & pans. We did a fair amount of cooking and it was nice to have everything we needed. Everything was clean....No worries about whether it was OK to use.The location is great in Prescott. Right on the edge of the Prescott National Forest. 2.1 miles from Thumb Butte hiking trails. Most trails are easy to navigate. A trail map is helpful. 2.0 miles from downtown Prescott where's there's tons of restaurants and shopping. The neighborhood for the property is very quiet. The folks we met living there are friendly and sociable. We met several who were walking their dogs. We just loved that area. An easy getaway north of Phoenix just a 2-hour drive.
