Beach house directly by the sea in Le Racou / Argeles-Plage / Le Racou

The cottage is as described right between the beach and shops/cafes in Racou Plage, one of our favourite places on this stretch of coast. The check in was easy, we collected keys from the caretaker in one of the apartment blocks over the road and communication with the host was swift and responsive although we didn’t actually meet him. The accommodation was clean but basic and could sleep six if you used the sofa bed downstairs. However, it’s worth noting the lack of privacy as you need to go through one upstairs bedroom to get to the other which was outside off the roof terrace and quite small. Also, there was no door to screen the upstairs bedroom from anyone sleeping downstairs on the sofa bed. That didn’t bother us but might be an issue for some as might the accessibility; steep stairs and an awkward threshold to step over to get to the roof terrace and second bedroom. Having said that, the cottage is in an enviable position and we enjoyed our stay. There are plenty of options for eating out and the coastal path to Collioure right on your doorstep. It was lovely to sit outside and eat on the front terrace but if the weather is bad be aware that there is no dining table inside. The downstairs bathroom was nice with plentiful hot water in the walk in shower. Visitors need to bring their own bedding which caused us a last minute panic as it was not mentioned in the listing but Marcus was very helpful in sorting this out. Overall we loved our stay

Wir waren das erste Mal in Racou. Racou hat eineigense Flair. Morgens vor dem Frühstück aus dem Haus zu gehen, eine Runde schwimmen, danach Croissant von der Episserie holen und das Frühstück auf der Dachterrasse genießen. Viel mehr braucht es nicht, um glücklich zu sein. Das Haus ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet, und hat alles was man braucht. Falls Fragen sind, kann man jederzeit an Markus schreiben, und bekommt sofort eine Antwort. Der einzig kleine Schwachpunkt ist die Übergabe vom Hausverwalter bei der Ankunft. Die dauerte 5 Minuten, und als Fremde hätten wir auf etwas mehr Informationen gehofft. Aber das war nach einer Nacht nicht mehr wichtig. Nur zu empfehlen.

Hat total Spaß gemacht kommen gerne wieder! Einfach Super direkt am Strand. Alles total unproblematisch.

Nous avons passé une superbe semaine au Racou, lieu que je connais depuis mon enfance. La maison est idéalement placée, a 20 secondes de la plage, aucune mauvaise surprise, tout équipée et très propre. Le gardien est adorable. Juste un petit bémol pour se garer, obligé de payer le parking tous les jours (6 euros) mais nous reviendrons avec plaisir !
