About this cottage rental
Whanarua Bay Cottages are located on the Eastern Bay of Plenty side of the East Cape. We are about an hour's drive from Opotiki along StateHighway 35, which is part of the spectacular Pacific Coast Highway.
The cottage is a very cosy two bedroom coastal bach with cabin located on a large sunny section surrounded with fruit trees and flower gardens. The place is fenced and there’s a small gully on one side that we have planted in natives. At the rear of the section there’s a cleaning station equipped with running water for the fishermen in the family. This cottage will sleep up to five people comfortably and all beds are made up with fresh linen. The kitchen is fully equipment except it hasn’t got a oven. From the lounge the french doors lead out onto deck, where you can sit back and relax in this beautiful bay.

Tariff is for 2 people,
Extra Adults $25 per night
Extra Children $15 per night
High Season Rates applies to Long Weekends

This is a true old style Kiwi bach, a bit scruffy and well worn/used. But that is its beauty and authenticity. Staying by the beach in a more remote part of Aotearoa, I do not want a super-swish, Auckland style apartment. The area is stunningly beautiful, especially Whanarua Bay itself. But there seem to be undertones of local conflict over who can fish, how and where. So be careful and sensitive.

Great location, however the 'easy walk' to the beach is not the case for small children and the advertisment of 'pantry essentials' is rather an overstatement. Spotlessly clean though, comfy beds and a very tranquil setting.
