Access to water sports abound, with fishing charters and dock rental for your boat across the street and within walking distance. Use the beautiful private beach with lounge chairs provided to relax and enjoy the sun. The downtown Port Clinton area is within walking distance and includes restaurants, shopping and night life. You can park your car for the week and start having fun!
Many other attractions are minutes away, including Marblehead Lighthouse, Gideon Owen (formerly Mon Ami) and Firelands wineries, historic Johnson's Island, African Safari Wildlife Park, Monsoon Lagoon Waterpark, Lakeside resort community, East Harbor State Park where you can take long hikes along the beautiful historic beach and relive history reading the plaques that recount the history of the Lake Erie shoreline.
The Jet Express ferry boat is a short two minute walk across the drawbridge from our resort. They are advertised as the fastest way to get to South Bass Island and Put-N-Bay. Once on the islands, you can rent a bike or golf cart and tour South Bass Island with its wineries, caves, restaurants, bars and many shops. The Division of Wildlife operates a fish hatchery on the island which is very educational and ideal for kids. Also on the island is the historic Perry's Monument which stands 352 feet tall. It was established to honor those who fought during the War of 1812. Experience the breathtaking view from the observation deck. On a clear day Canada, Cleveland and the surrounding islands are visible. Two other ferry boats are located nearby on Catawba and Marblehead that allow you to take your vehicle over to the islands.
The birdwatchers in your family will love to visit Magee Marsh Wildlife Area. This 2,202-acre controlled hunting area is located 17 miles west of Port Clinton. Spring and fall migrations are spectacular at Magee Marsh, with more than 300 species of birds being recorded in the area. Bald eagles, peregrine falcons, osprey, and a large variety of hawks can be seen at Magee Marsh during the spring. A forested beach ridge located on Magee provides a critical feeding and resting habitat for more than 150 species of migrating songbirds, including 36 species of warblers, as they rest and refuel before continuing on their journey. An accessible boardwalk that meanders through this beach ridge provides some of the best bird watching opportunities in the Midwest.
If you have kids and are looking for a little more excitement, world famous Cedar Point amusement park, with 17 roller coasters, live entertainment, kids' area and a water park, is located about 20-25 minutes away. Other indoor waterparks in the Sandusky area include Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge.
We recommend our guests stop at the Ottawa County/Lake Erie Shores & Islands Visitor's Bureau on SR 53N, just after you exit SR 2 onto SR 53 (across from the Harbor Light Landing shops) and pick up a travel guide to the area. We also provide these guides, as well as other brochures in the cottages, so you can get the most from your trip to the Lake.
Note, our condo complex does not have elevators, it is stairway accessible. A strict non-smoking and no pets policy is enforced.
