Half Moon Bay voters approved a 3% increase in the Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) rate.
This new rate increases the City’s Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) rate on transient guests, as
collected by lodging providers, from 12% to 14% on July 1, 2021, and to 15% on July 1, 2022.
The City would like to provide the following guidance regarding room reservations that were
made prior to July 1, 2021:
1. Bookings Paid Prior to July 1, 2021:
Please note that payments on bookings made prior to July 1, 2021, where the occupancy
takes place after July 1, are subject to the 14% tax rate. If the 12% rate was paid at the
time of booking, the additional 2% tax is due prior to vacating the lodging property.
This 2% additional tax represents the amount that must be collected to be consistent
with the ordinance.

Wonderful location. House was stocked with everything we needed. Fantastic communication with the host. Easy walk down to the beach. Longer coastal walk to a bigger and more remote beach was about 2 miles. Highly recommend and we’ve talked as a family about when we can come back!

We had a fantastic time! There were 10 adults and we found the house to be spacious with a lovely view of the water and golf course. We are hoping to stay here again in the future.

Celebrated my 70th birthday here with my kids and grandkids. It was a perfect weekend in a beautiful home. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare multiple-course meals and there were toys and scooters for the kids to play inside and out. The views of the ocean were stunning and we walked the Coastal Trail and played on the beach nearby. Love Half Moon Bay and this property- hope to stay here again one day!

This was a perfect house for our family get together. There were 9 of us including a one year old. There was plenty of space. The ocean view was fabulous! The host was most helpful and welcoming. Would love to repeat the visit sometime.
