About this house rental

This home is built looking over the Columbia Valley just down the road from Golden, BC. You get amazing views all times of the day. You're just a stone throw away from the Columbia River which offers great fishing, amazing canoeing and swimming. The cottage is surrounded by nearby mountain bike, sled and cross country skiing trails. 5 minutes from Golden and 20 minutes to Kicking Horse resort from there.

There's a zip line at the back of the lot that is great for kids.

5 minute walk is the eco-Adventure Ranch which offers services for weddings, private lake, and landings for para gliders. The cottage has a cabin feel with local timber trims with modern amenities. There are 2 covered decks, one facing the Columbia Valley and the other that faces the mountain side. Note that the driveway is quite steep and it is recommended that during the Winter a 4 wheel drive vehicle is used. However the driveway is regularly plowed.

Home features:Interior-Blonde Maple flooring, Grey porcelain tiles at entrances, local fir finishing with white wash stains, custom local fir railings and spindles.Exterior-Triple pane windows and doors, Hardy siding, secure multi-point locks, sound barrier insulation (exterior+interior)Kitchen-Bamboo counter-tops, dishwasher, 36"Fridge, cook top, wall mount stove+microwave, 1200 cfs hood fan, large island, touch faucet, Garb-orator.Bedrooms- Solid wood bed frames, large windows.Bathrooms- Spacious, rain shower heads, jetted tubs, porcelain and mosaic tiles, large vanity drawer, Misc- 2 decks, whole-home speaker system, fire pit, BBQ, large wood stove, WIFI Internet and TV with DVD multi-media player. Co-ordination booking to accommodate weddings etc. from Eco-Adventure Ranch or can accommodate small weddings. Need to reach out prior to booking for any events.

Note that the driveway was recently re-excavated and dropped by 6'. Being a mountain cabin it's a rustic gravel driveway with a large gravel parking area. A new deck was built with a staircase. The staircase does not currently have railings yet. There's is a gravel ramp to the left but don't recommend for people with mobility issues.

The grass is generally not watered in the summer due to well water constraint. Golden like many towns has a labour shortage so not all this can be fixed right away if something were to occur.

Will not accept changes in guest numbers less than 30 days in advance.

Had a great stay. Had everything there to make very comfortable. Thank you

Nice and big house that had plenty of room for 6 of us. Close to town, but Golden has limited activities. Also close to Yoho NP and Glacier NP. It’s quite a drive to Banff NP though.

The home was perfect for our family. Comfortable, clean, conveniently located. Was not expecting the amount of road and train noise. It was not all the time but there were moments where it was noticeable. Even so, we really enjoyed our stay.

I was impressed with the view from the front porch, and the bathrooms were surprisingly big. The rooms are smaller than they appear and are very crowded with beds, so there isn't a lot of room to move around. The trains at night are very loud and kept waking us up, and the mosquitos kept coming in to bite us at night despite the screens. But the kids loved the smoke pit and the zip line. The hot tub was nice after a long day of hiking. The owner's email response time is great, and the house was well stocked with paper towels, toilet paper, towels, kitchen spices, condiments, etc. That was a plus, as the food in the grocery store was very expensive. The discount card for Save on Foods provided was very helpful. Although the cabin is close to the Kicking Horse lodge (with mountain biking, skiing, grizzly bear interpretative center, restaurants, etc.), it is a solid hour drive just to get to Lake Louise and to the exit to the Icefields Parkway. So if you are heading up to the Columbia Icefields, you have a good 3 hour drive ahead of you and about 5 hours to get to Jasper (with another hour drive to Maligne Lake, which we had to skip). Because of the crowds in the summer and the difficulty finding parking, being this far made it extremely difficult to get to any place before 9 a.m., at which point everything was packed. Luckily, the sun doesn't set in the summer till after 9 p.m., so we were able to hit some of the major attractions in the late afternoon when many of the tourists were leaving. Still, were we to do this trip again, we would be sure to pick a place more centrally located, because we did not enjoy having to drive such long distances every single day.
