Tahoe area Cabin, Pet Friendly, 3 miles to Sugar Bowl, On x-country ski trail

We've stayed in Serene Lakes since the early 2000s. This cabin looks into the woods, is biking and walking distance from the lakes. The kitchen is well equipped, the sitting area is good for 5 people, the master bedroom is spacious and the additional bedrooms small but functional. There was a minor plumbing problem with the upstairs bath sink, which we assume that the property owner will have fixed soon. The host responded promptly to our email about the sink, but did not have it fixed while we were there. Would rent this place again.

Great cabin that is not corporate owned, so there are some cobwebs and half-broken cabinet doors which we didn’t mind as there are many personal touches that we appreciated, such as an abundance of paper products for the bathrooms, soap, shampoo, and even hand lotion which is helpful in the dry mountain air. The kitchen is well stocked with spices, sugar, tea, and plenty of cooking utensils. Be prepared to split some logs and build a fire as it is the primary source of heat in the living area. They have plenty of firewood down in the garage with axes to split larger logs. Despite being a poor snow season, there was still enough snow right out back for my kids to have fun playing in it and using some of the provided sleds on the gentle hill that is right off the deck. The location is very quiet and backs up to forest and trails. If you make it to the top of the hill out back, there is a wooden bench that looks right at Castle Peak. There is a nice little general store in Soda Springs with plenty of grocery basics if you forgot something like we did but the nearest full grocery store is in Truckee, about 20 minutes away. We hope to come back next year when there will hopefully be more snow.

This cabin was great for a fun family weekend. We look forward to renting this cabin again in the future.

This cabin was exactly what I hoped for. Cozy, warm, beautiful view of the snow-covered pines off of the deck. There was internet, Netflix and Hulu. The furniture was comfortable (couch does need some repair) and the kitchen had everything we needed. We were able to bring our dogs (who loved the snow). Location was perfect. My only criticism is that the listing said it slept 8, but we were unable to use one bedroom because the bunk beds were too small for adults. The owner responded quickly to my emails and was very gracious. I have booked it for next year. Can’t wait. I highly recommend this cabin for small groups.
