Acadia Gateway Motel

cleaned daily. The owner was very friendly, and hospitable. It's a motel, so I'm not expecting the Ritz. It's budget friendly for the area.

The shower stall was a bit small. Not much space to move around in.

Super cute facility. Adored the chairs outside of each room, with lovely hanging and window box flowers to accompany your outdoor sitting session. The interior is exactly what you would expect from an older roadside hotel. Morning tea/coffee and donuts were adequate for our needs. Manager was very responsive to our needs. Especially when we arrived and told him there was no hot water, he informed us that he shuts it off when everybody’s out and about (we were in fact the only people there at the time lol, so that checked out), to save money, and he turned it right on so I could hop in and get a hot shower after a long day of travel. AC in the room worked efficiently. We opted for a microwave & mini fridge and they were great for what we needed. Freezer kept our ice packs frozen till we were ready to pack our cooler again! Water pressure was also adequate. Water temperature did vacillate a bit during our stay, which I saw others complaining about on the reviews when I booked, but experiencing it first-hand was no different than I would experience in my own home when someone flushes a toilet. It didn’t really bother me. Lastly, I sleep with a really loud white noise machine at night, so I can’t comment on if traffic zooming by the motel would be loud during the night. To each their own!

No negatives about the property itself, aside from maybe the beds were very firm? But that is neither here nor there because I didn’t end up having any back or neck issues during my stay. Just different than what I’m used to. Others might find that useful to know?

It's right on the only road leading into Acadia National Park and just a short drive from the shuttle bus gateway. I think I chose this room because of the 8 rating and it's price, although high, was lower than other rooms with similar ratings. The air conditioner fan and heater both worked well for white noise so the nearby traffic didn't bother us.

We had a Twin Room, so maybe the bigger rooms were better. But our room was very small, low ceiling, tiny bathroom. And infested with lady bugs! I first noticed 5 or 6 small dead beetles on the little stand between the beds. But then I started looking around and saw live lady bugs on the curtains, beds, ceiling and walls. We didn't leave because we knew everything else was booked and it would be hard to find another room under $500. We spent quite a while picking bugs up and throwing them out the door - I'd guess at least 40 of them. And we paid $200/night for this room (including tax). We told the manager the next morning and he showed up with a vacuum to clean the room out while we were out for the day. We had fewer than 10 ladybugs that evening. Perhaps this isn't normal there, but I felt I should let others know to be cautious about staying in the twin rooms, at least.
