About this house rental
My home is cleaned and disinfected before each renter arrives. Bright and airy, 2nd & 3rd floor living right 'In The Village' (see book by Anthony Bailey, 1971), with a great view of activities on Water Street, yet still very private. Historic 19th century building with modern loft living ... vaulted ceiling, sky-lights, spiral staircase, roof-top deck. Large open-space living, dining, and kitchen space with two bedrooms, a full bath, and a 1/2 bath on the second floor, and one loft bedroom on the 3rd floor. Views of Stonington Harbor and Fishers Island, NY from 2 of the bedrooms. 3 short block walk to the Harbor, Small Boat Ass'n launch area (launch your kayaks at this free public launch space), children's playground, & Fishing Docks. Shopping and restaurants on Water Street, Public Library (1 block), Old Lighthouse Museum & DuBois Beach at the end of the Point (approx. 12 blocks - 'The Borough' is a peninsula).
Just ten minutes from the Mystic drawbridge lies Stonington Borough, called “the most beautiful seaside village in New England.” Because the Borough is a narrow, mile-long peninsula pointing into Fisher’s Island Sound and Little Narragansett Bay, nothing is more than a short walk from your car or boat. From “The Point” you can view three states--CT, RI, & NY-- or see the last remaining commercial fleet in the state bring lobster and famous scallops and flounder to the Town Dock. The Borough is a major yachting center with all the amenities and our beautiful harbor boasts boats of all types and sizes. From The Borough, you can visit Mystic Seaport, Mystic Aquarium, Watch Hill RI, the RI beaches, and either Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun Casinos .... all with only a 10 to 30 minute drive.

This is a great, very big, very funky and cool old apartment in a great location. This is a perfect spot to stay if you like a place with character and history and need three bedrooms and like to be near the fishing dock and right in town - it’s even right above an antique shop! Close to shops, wine store, an old-time general store, good restaurants, and a ten-minute walk to the small town beach. The window ACs kept it cool enough despite a heat wave, and Carolyn was a wonderful host who was easy to get in touch with and who provided everything you could want or need - from washer/dryer to full kitchen with many pots and pans and spices and two different coffee maker options, soaps and shampoos, comfy couches, good wireless, I could go on and on.

We really loved our time here. The location could not be more perfect. It was so fun to be able to walk across the street and hop in a shop or grab a bite to eat, and also to be right next to the ocean. We loved relaxing on the upstairs patio and enjoying the views of the ocean. We also felt so appreciative that our dogs were welcomed. Carolyn was a wonderful host and the place has everything you need. We would 100% stay here again and again.

I fell in love with the (huge) apartment, the landlady, and the town, right outside my door. Sat on the deck and used my binoculars when the skies were deep, deep blue. Mournful foghorn/lighthouse horn, the smell of the sea, amazing light inside due to many windows and skylights. Charming, it feels like home. I am thinking of having my family of 10 meet here for a holiday, as Carolyn has supplied everything you could imagine, for cooking, and enough for at least 12 people. Plus a washer and dryer! Beach towels, blankets, wine glasses, detergent, everything. Carolyn has a wonderful antique store downstairs, make sure to check it out. And she loves animals!The hottest weather in recent history was no match for the heavy-duty a/c units, plus fans. And wonderful dog-walking right outside the door! A park a short block away. She even has dog gates. I could easily move right in! I parked right on the street outside my door. As a library employee, I love that it is 2 blocks away. A friendly, beautiful town that is much easier to get to than the Cape, that rivals Salem, Cornwall, etc. I’ll be back for sure! (Hope to retire near here.)Tip - sign the guest book at the little free library by the swings in the park. Mystic is just down the road, but Westerly, across the river, is just as nice. Stores here are wonderful; usually open 10-5 or 10-6. Cash only at the convenience store - 1 short block walk, but they have an atm. They open at 5 am for your newspapers, etc. close at 5.Linda LRochester, N.Y.
