Character house with private pool in Albas for 10 people

Located in Cathar Country, 30 km from the sea, this house is an old wine cellar built at the beginning of the last century. This superb building has gradually turned into a wonderful family gîte with character. The old and the modern mingle cheerfully and give the building a unique character.

If you like walking, cycling, abbeys, Cathar castles, the sun, gastronomy and good wine, the Albas region will undoubtedly seduce you!

If you prefer to rest or relax in the water, sun loungers surround a 9.25 x 4 m swimming pool in a typical Corbières garden.


Description of the village: Albas is a wonderful little village of 65 inhabitants, the vines stand out between the majestic rocks and the wild Mediterranean scrubland. The village is calm and yet, in summer, this little earthly paradise lives to the rhythm of holidaymakers, its small square welcomes people wishing to have a drink in the evening, eat a barbecue, participate in a game of pétanques. And all this in the joy and good humor of young and old. Nap time is sacred. Street vendors bring you fresh baguette in the morning, fruits and vegetables, ... The locals are happy to present their harvests to you, whose exceptional and unique tomatoes will make you happy!
Recently, Martine, daughter of the village, opened a small store where you can help yourself, order, enjoy the wonderful and delicious vegetables from his vegetable patch. A small space in the shade of the plane trees, arranged on the square allows you to enjoy a small coffee, or an aperitif, while meeting one or the other colorful figure of our village.

Local activities ...: Not far from our village, there is no shortage of distractions! Here are some ideas for getaways:

- An excursion to the sea (35 km), with its long sandy beaches and impressive cliffs.
- An original tasting of Leucate oysters, renowned for their incomparable finesse and freshness, at the oyster farming center, a typical and authentic place.
- Wine lovers will find their happiness when visiting the many cellars. The winegrowers proud of their production: Fitou, Corbières ... generously serve the fruit of their harvest by commenting passionately on the tasting.
- A desire to change country! Spain is not far, 1 hour to reach the border, total change of scenery.
- And of course, don't forget to visit the Cathar castles and the no less famous city of Carcassonne.

Local gastronomy: Gastronomy is also very present, good local and fresh products which are found on different markets, including Narbonne (and its magnificent halls!), as well as Lézignan, where local producers offer products from the sea and the land.

From mid-July, every Tuesday evening: grilling on the village square, everyone brings a little supplement, which we share with the people present (if we wish!) and for a few euros, you can taste the grills masterfully prepared by the 'specialists' of the village, a privileged moment when you meet the locals. Every Thursday: pétanque competition for young and old, we play with family, friends or you always find one or the other to 'team up' if you are alone!
NEW: recently, a shepherdess has settled in the garrigue of Albas, she invites you to share her passion and very professionally organizes a nature breakfast where you will discover the fascinating life of Florence and her sheep.
