The village of Lumio: its alleys, its stone houses. You absolutely have to go around the village, stop at the square, the view is breathtaking!

The old village of OCC I: abandoned village from the beginning of the XXth century, by its situation, this high hill village offers a magnificent view over the whole coast towards Calvi and towards Ile Rousse

The parish church of Sainte Marie: a refurbished facade, splendid organs, skillfully colored statues, a building that calls the faithful and visitors to meditation.

The Romanesque Chapel of Saint Peter and Paul: the oldest of the religious buildings, astonishing with its sculptures and architecture, not to be missed! The visit of the cemetery which surrounds it is essential.
The village fountains.
Caldanu point tower: old Genoese tower in ruins. It is strictly forbidden to climb on the tower and touch the stones.
Pointe de Spano tower: old Genoese tower in ruins. It is strictly forbidden to climb on the tower and touch the stones.
Pointe Spano
Sant’Ambroggiu marine: located a few km below the village, the port offers a magnificent view from the national road, then once in the navy, the well-being of a seaside resort awaits you.

Arinella beach: located at the end of the Route de la Mer, this small beach is a delight. In summer it is difficult to find your place! she is too successful! the rocks and creeks a few steps allow you to put your towel down. Restaurant on site.

Sainte Restitude beach: access to this beach is a bit chaotic, but it rewards when you are there! Restaurant on site.
Sainte Restitude Beach

The remains of the Saint Nicolas chapel: for the "researchers"! indeed, these vestiges are discreetly hidden in the maquis between the port of Sant’Ambroggiu and the village of Lumio.

Historical circuit of the Citadel

Above the porch of the Citadel, there is a marble plaque bearing the inscription 'Civitas Calvi Semper Fidelis', which recalls Calvi's loyalty to Genoa in the 16th century. Under the porch: old guards' posts transformed into reception and exhibition rooms.

Bastion San Giorgiu, which was erected in the 15th century; view of the Chapel of Our Lady of Serra (1479) and U Capu di A Veta (713 m).

Sant'Antonio Tower (below, left) with a view of the Port and the Bay.

Palace of the Governors, formerly known as 'Castel Nuovo'. The Office Saint-Georges undertook in 1483, then in 1492, the important works which gave the 'castle' its final appearance. From 1545 to 1547, then in 1652, it served as the residence of the governors of Corsica. It now houses the Sampiero barracks (Foreign Legion). *

The Oratory of the Confraternity Saint-Antoine: built in 1510, it shelters the meetings of the brotherhoods of Saint-Antoine and of the Annunciation, charitable and pious institutions. Its facade is decorated with a slate lintel from the 16th century representing Saint-Antoine l'Abbé.

The Palace of the Bishops of Sagone: built in the 16th century, it served as a residence for the Bishops before being acquired, after the Revolution, by the Giubegga family.

At the top of the steps, a magnificent lintel of slates, carved towards the end of the 15th century representing Saint John the Baptist and Saint Francis surrounding the Virgin and Child.

House of Laurent Giubegga: godfather of Napoleon: it housed, in May-June 1793, the future Emperor, who fled Ajaccio with all his family.

The Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist: the exact date of its construction is not known with certainty but it is located in the 13th century. It was originally owned by the Genoese monastery and then erected as a Cathedral. It was burned down in 1481, restored and enlarged in 1528, partially destroyed in 1553, then damaged again in 1567. It was in 1570 that it assumed the appearance we know today. It contains many works of art.

Behind the Cathedral, the Military Hospital, erected on the site of Castel Vecchio, in the second half of the 16th century with funds donated by Jean-Antoine Vincentello. This building gave concrete expression to the wish he made one day to endow his hometown with a 'mount of piety'.

Viewpoint on the Revellata and its lighthouse, Pointe Saint François and the ruins of the Old Convent.

The birthplace of Christopher Columbus: a commemorative plaque recalls that a very ancient tradition gave birth to 'the Admiral of the Ocean Sea' in Calvi.

Bastion Malfetano overlooking Place Christophe Colomb; view of Pointe Saint François (vestiges of the first Franciscan Convent founded in 1220 by Saint François d'Assise), as well as the Loretto Chapel built in 1495, Fort Muzzellu (1756) and Fort Torretta (1843).
