About this country house rental
This wonderfully converted old farmhouse retains plenty of character whilst enjoying all the mod cons including an american style kitchen, a Senseo coffee machine, a SMART Tv, a dvd player, a large collection of Dvds, laundry facilities, a lounge with a dining area and a downstairs wet-room.
There are three bedrooms - bedroom one has an en-suite shower/wc with two single beds, which can be converted into a superking on request, and a third single bed on the beautifully crafted wooden mezzanine level above.
Bedroom two has three singles, one of which is raised and another is on a mezzanine, and shares a spacious shower room with bedroom three which has two singles (can be converted into a superking if desired).
The gite also enjoys a terrace for private use, a bbq and outdoor seating. There is private parking and a secure cave for skiis and bikes.
The gite is part of a larger property, the rest of which has also been converted into a gite - The Haybarn (1935425) sleeping 10 - and can be joined internally and rented as one unit sleeping 18 - listed here as Gite Du Vallon (1888276).
The gites are situated on the edge of a peaceful hamlet on the outskirts of the Ecrins National Park and enjoy spectacular scenery, a calming ambience and the opportunity to get close to nature.
The hamlet of Chantelouve itself is tranquil and calm, set on the edge of the Ecrin National Park, the scenery is spectacular throughout the year. There are plenty of walks to be taken just by exiting the front door. For cyclists there are VTT trails running through the village and surrounding area and Boug D'Oisans, Les Deux Alpes & Alp D'Heuz are between 20 and 45 mins away (by car). Skiers and snowboarders can also enjoy the mega resorts of Les Deux Alpes & Alp D'Heuz in the winter plus our local and reasonably priced ski resort of Col D'Ornon, which is a couple of minuets away by car. In the summer there are many local lakes offering sailing, fishing, swimming etc, most with restaurants overlooking the water and fab local food.
Getting Around
There is no public transport in Chantelouve, to enjoy the area you really need a vehicle and snowchains or tyres are a must in the winter.

We only stayed a night whilst passing through but the house was great, recently done up and the area was beautiful (like all the alps really). We particularly liked the kitchen which was large, clean and well equipped with modern appliances (makes a nice change), and although we didn't use it, the oven was enormous so it would be easy to actually stay there for a while with a large group. Kate and Alessandro where friendly and welcoming and we will defiantly be back for a much longer stay next time!

Wer keine Lust auf Massentourismus hat ist hier genau richtig. Wir buchten diese Unterkunft Ende August für eine Woche. Es handelt sich um eine Art Doppelhaushälfte - den Garten teilten wir uns mit den Vermietern. Die Unterkunft war sauber und total gemütlich. Die Vermieter waren unkompliziert und sehr gastfreundlich. Unser Sohn hat sich sehr wohlgefühlt, da die Familie ebenfalls Kinder hat und Spielgeräte (&Spielgefährten) vorhanden waren ;-). Die Umgebung ist traumhaft schön. In der Umgebung gibt es zahlreiche Ausflugsziele, die alle landschaftlich atemberaubend sind. Schwimmen im Bergsee, Wandern in den Französischen Alpen, mit der Seilbahn auf 3200 Meter, Stadtbesichtigung von Grenoble....etc. Es war ein wunderbarer Urlaub. Einziges Manko: die nächste Bäckerei ist 10 Min. entfernt (Auto), der nächste Supermarkt ca. 20 Minuten. Der Ort ist wirklich sehr klein - trotzdem kann man auch im Ort einen netten Spaziergang unternehmen, da er an einem malerischen Gebirgsbach liegt. Im Pfarrgarten steht für die Dorfjugend eine Tischtennisplatte, die wir auch genutzt haben :-). Es war sehr erholsam und wunderschön. Wir würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

We found the owners really welcoming and helpful, we were able to visit lots of places in the surrounding area. Especially the lakes where the kids could swim and enjoy the whole day outside in the sun. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there and will definitely be going back.
