2 Old Pound Yard is a newly refurbished sanctuary in the heart of Great Shelford, one of the most popular South Cambridgeshire villages.

Only a few miles south of Cambridge City Centre, Great Shelford has all the facilities you could possibly require, including a Train Station, Supermarkets, Pubs, Restaurants, Wine Bar, Brunch Bar and Takeaways. There are 2 park & ride sites a short drive away from the property and many cycle paths directly into the city.

Old Pound Yard is a private driveway in the High Street, Great Shelford. There is private off road parking for up to 3 cars and a private walled garden.

The house has been completely refurbished to a high standard and is fully equipped with all home comforts. Managed by the owners, who also live in the village, the house has 3 comfortable bedrooms accommodating up to 6 people, 2 bathrooms incorporating one bath, two showers and shaver points, a living room and separate snug both equipped with wi-fi / Sky Glass TV on HD televisions, a fabulous well equipped kitchen/diner overlooking the garden and a utility room and downstairs cloakroom.

2 Old Pound Yard is a perfect home for anyone visiting Cambridge whether for business or leisure. The best of both worlds it offers close proximity to the centre of Cambridge, Addenbrookes Biomedical Campus and Cambridge University, whilst being in a lively village, close to the countryside and with all amenities on the doorstep. With Waitrose, excellent Farm Shops and rural attractions all a short drive away, it is easy to see why Great Shelford is one of the most sought after villages.

The house is immaculate, clean and very well equipped. The garden was lovely to sit in and enjoy the sunshine.It was very handy having your own parking space at the house. We were down visiting our son and the house was in an ideal location for us, walking distance to shops, pubs and the railway station. The very generous welcome basket was much appreciated after a very long drive. We wish we could of stayed longer! Hope to be back in the future.

There were supermarkets, restaurants and the village shops within walking distance. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering with all equipment in working order. The owners were friendly and accommodating and responsive to any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay in Great Shelford and would have no hesitation in recommending this property to others.

A beautiful, clean, comfortable well equipped holiday home in a great spot. Communication with Elise was great and we really appreciated the welcome pack of essentials. The house is steps from several pubs (which we tried) and a really great wine bar. There is also a couple of mini supermarkets and a great deli and bakery. Which we also made good use of! As two adult couples we had a great time. Thanks for having us.

Hard to find fault with this property which is spacious and comfortable. Would highly recommend and certainly happy to return should we find ourselves visiting Cambridge again. Less than 10min drive to the park and ride for Cambridge city centre and a short walk to local shops.

We had such a great relaxing time at this beautifully comfortable, spacious and immaculate home in the picturesque village of Great Shelford. The location is superb, a few minutes walk from local shops, cafes, pub and restaurants and everyone we met was so friendly. Also a pretty walk along Jenny's Path next to a farm. Quintessential English village with beautiful quirky thatched houses everywhere. Elise the owner was so friendly and paid such lively kind attention to detail, making our stay so pleasurable. The house is exactly like the pictures. It is spotlessly clean. The host has anticipated her guests every need. We were welcomed in person by the host and given a tour. Essentials were all in the house - coffee, tea, white towels, bathroom essentials. It all made a super relaxing stay. Great Shelford is a quaint, picturesque village with excellent amenities. Pubs, bakers beautiful houses, countryside and a lovely children’s play park. All a stones throw from Cambridge.

We have stayed in many properties, and this was by far the best equipped, with plenty of utensils, crockery, glasses etc. All the furniture and fittings were lovely. Unfortunately one of our family ended up in hospital, but Elise couldn't have been more helpful and sympathetic. Would thoroughly recommend this property, and would love to stay again.

3 of us stayed in this great house for 2 nights. We loved how thoughtful the host was in providing things around the house such as milk, butter, slippers, etc. We also appreciate how well decorated the house was. The only issue was that our taxi drivers got lost trying to find the house each morning because of the address, but that was a minor issue. If you're looking for a nice place to stay in while visiting Cambridge or the surrounding areas, myself and my friends all highly recommend this place!

We had a couple of days at Elise's house and really enjoyed our stay. The house is tastefully decorated and very spacious. Everything was exactly as described and no detal was missing. The only suggestion for improvement is to provide a dropped pin and a picture of how to find the yard as it took is a while to locate the house.

The rental was very accurate to description. The owner Elise was amazing in her instructions and communications. House was very clean. You are provided with useful things to start off with, such as paper towels and dishwasher detergent. Currently, staying at another VRBo and we’re not provided with any first essentials. We stayed here for a few days before heading elsewhere for a family funeral. My elderly father my two teenage children and my husband and I stayed here for five days This house was as good as it looks and more. The attention to detail in the items available in the rooms. They have thought of everything. I am very very fussy about cleanliness and this could not have been any cleaner. I had a few queries before we booked and these were answered very clearly and promptly. The rooms are well planned and we loved sitting in the garden in the evening. Wifi was good for the teenagers. There is a pub round the corner where we ate twice. We had a Chinese too from a very popular restaurant in the village. Five minute drive to the park and ride and we had a lovely couple of days in Cambridge. The village is very pretty and everybody we met including the property owner was very friendly. There are a couple of shops where you can get supplies if most things within walking distance. We will be looking for an excuse to return.

The property lacked for nothing - comfortable, well laid out and decorated, and particularly well equipped. One of the best self-catering rentals we have ever stayed in. Communication with Elise was quick and easy and the welcome basket was impressive. The house is in a good location for visiting the area. This has to be one of the very best properties we have ever stayed at. It was easy to book and Elise was in touch as soon as we had booked to welcome us in advance of our stay. We received comprehensive information before we arrived and Elise was there to greet us and show us round the house on arrival. The house is absolutely wonderful, beautifully decorated, comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. It is so well equipped with everything you could possibly need or want. The appliances are excellent, everything is of such a high standard. We were left welcome hamper which was very generous and included cereal, milk, bread, eggs, fruit, biscuits, wine etc, more than we have ever seen before and very much appreciated. There is ample parking at the back and the garden is lovely. We were lucky to have warm evenings and could sit out and enjoy the peace and quiet and the lovely garden lights. This property is one of the best we have ever stayed in and felt the owners went that extra mile to make our stay the best it could be. It is the small touches that make such a difference We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to be able to stay again sometime. Many thanks Elise for everything
