Large house from Savoy in a magnificent park between lake and mountains

We have just had a fantastic week in this amazing old French house. The house is very old and is enormous. 7 bedrooms on the first floor and another room on the ground floor which could be used as an additional bedroom if needed with a single bed with a truckle pull out under it. We took piano music and so enjoyed playing the grand piano in the lounge. The acoustic is great. There are two sets of french doors in the lounge leading onto the raised veranda so the light in the room is lovely. Tons of outdoor seating on the veranda which runs across the back of the lounge and down the whole of the side of the house with a long table that easily sat 12. There are two other large reception rooms with tables and chairs which we didn’t use at all, one with an old upright honky tonk piano. There is no TV or radio. There were no supplies provided so make sure you take toilet roll and anything else. I had taken dishwasher tablets and washing detergent and cleaning wipes but hadn’t expected not to have toilet roll or tea towels, or in fact hand towels for the bathrooms and after a long drive it was a bit arduous to have to immediately go and buy these but we left loads for the next people. You have to clean the bathrooms and kitchen when you leave so I would guess that you are reliant on the effort taken by previous guests in that regard. The house is really relaxing in large beautiful grounds. The pool is quite long so you could get a good swim. Wish we’d had longer.

The house, garden and pool were beautiful. Veronique, the caretaker (?) was lovely and so helpful. The locality was really beautiful. We had a wonderful holiday. I would highly recommend this house and this area. Anything I would add? A parasol over the terrace perhaps!
