Cottage near Sarlat - Black Périgord

We had an excellent stay in this lovely cottage in a small place in the Perigord Noir. It was very clean, we had lots of space and everything we needed. The location is very quiet, but very well located: all necessary shops just a few minutes walk away, the Dordogne river including canoe hiring also just a few minutes walk away. Half an hour walk for the local lake. Lots of gardens, castles, medieval towns and of course prehistoric sites to visit in this amazing area. Communication with the proprietor was extremely responsive, friendly and straightforward. Highly recommended.

We really enjoyed our stay in this rather quirky place. It's a great old stone building located in the small village of Grolejac. There is a small supermarket, boulangerie and charcuterie just steps away as well as a farmer fruit stand and several restaurants. The river is also just a 5 minute walk. We liked the property; we stayed during a heat wave when the temperatures were reaching the upper 30s during the day. We just left the windows open at night and closed up when we left for the day and returned to a cool house. Nice amenities; it's an older place with squeaky floors but that really adds to the charm. Lots of space to relax and spread out in. The outside areas also looked great but we didn't use them due to the heat. Good communication with the owner Benoit and Mrs. R who helped us get settled in.

Maison agréable, bien équipée et située proche des commerces. La situation géographique est parfaite pour les visites aux alentours. Propriétaire accessible et à l'écoute. Tout est réuni pour passer un bon séjour.

De woning is gelegen in een dorpje voorzien van een kleine supermarkt, bakker en slager en ligt aan een rustig straatje waar geen verkeer doorheen gaat. Het huis is mooi gerenoveerd met behoudt van de oorspronkelijke details. Was voor ons even wennen, nadat we de weken ervoor in een modernere woning verbleven, maar we voelden ons snel thuis. Het terras onder de appelboom is heerlijk. Het huis zelf is van alle gemakken voorzien en zeer ruim. Het was erg warm tijdens ons verblijf, maar de muren houden de woning koel. En een duik in het vlakbij gelegen meer is ook heerlijk. La Table de Marais is een fijn plekje om 's avonds een keer te dineren. (vergeet ook Pirates du Perigord niet, bijzonder plekje) De woning is centraal gelegen en veel bezienswaardigheden - en dat zijn er veel - liggen op korte rijafstand. Een week was te kort om alles te kunnen zien en doen. Een tweetal verbeterpuntjes willen wij benoemen namelijk de mogelijkheid om in het huis afval te scheiden ontbreekt en het stapelbed sliep wel goed, maar voelde een beetje benauwd. Verder hebben wij heerlijk genoten en moeten wij zeker een keer terug komen om meer van de omgeving te kunnen ontdekken.
