About this house rental
Beautiful family house of 280 m2, beautifully furnished to accommodate 8 people (5 bedrooms with double beds). Located 750m above sea level on the slopes of the Grand Ballon (the highest mountain in the Vosges, 1424m). Splendid view of the surrounding mountains. Absolute calm. Ideal for idleness, long walks in the mountains, or the tourist discovery of Alsace.
Very large living room & dining room with large fireplace.
5 bedrooms for 2 people, + an attic (heated) of 60m2 converted into a playroom.
Fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher and laundry machine + 2 fridges +1 150L upright freezer.
2 bathrooms with WC + 3rd separate WC.
Oil central heating.
Located away from the small village of Goldbach-Altenbach, in the middle of a meadow, on the edge of the forest where deer and deer come out morning and evening (photo)
• For lazing around, a large terrace around the house allows you to take out the deckchairs and sunbathe, and have lunch in the shade of a large lime tree, while the children play freely on the entire 1.5 ha site ( not closed)
• For ballads, a large number of paths leave around the house and allow a multitude of ballads (such as the ascent of the Grand Ballon, 3:30 am A-R) and picnics.
• For cultural and tourist discoveries, the Wine Route (departure at 15 minutes by car), Mulhouse (35 minutes), Colmar (1 hour), Haut-Koenisbourg, Riquewihr, Ribeauvillé (1 hour), Basel (1 hour), Friborg-en- Brisgau (1h15), Strasbourg (1h30), EuropaPark (1h15)
For races:
Boulanger-Pâtissier in Willer sur Thur (8km - 10mn)
Super U supermarket in Bitschwiller les Thann (11km - 15mn) petrol 24 hours a day
Restaurant:
The excellent Grand Ballon farmhouse inn awaits you 15 minutes away, with views of all of Alsace, the Black Forest and the Alps (on a clear day)

We had the chance to rent this property just when it came to the market. As we live in nearby Basel, we used it as a summer retreat over several months, moving back and forth between the two places. The place is wonderfully quiet with nice views over open countryside. Among many other animals, we also spotted dear grazing below the house at night several times. The setting is very private - a real hideaway, yet all the great Alsace places are within easy reach. Perfect for nature lovers as the mountains all around are full of beautiful spots. The house displays a very tastefully decorated interior and is truly welcoming, a real family weekend home (the very polite owners live in Paris but if needed, a discrete caretaker is available close by for help at all times). Everything you need is there and very clean. The only reason why we don't rent the house again this year is that we travel elsewhere for all the summer months - we definitely recommend this property to anyone who likes to visit Alsace from a quiet and private base.
