# Viento de Ladera — Rural House in Segovia

In Fuentemilanos, ten minutes from Segovia and at the foot of the Guadarrama National Park, there is a house like no other. Viento de Ladera was born as a carpentry workshop over a century ago. Today it is a refuge with a unique character where stone, wood and high ceilings with original trusses coexist with all the comforts of the 21st century. Not a hotel. Not an apartment. Something hard to explain and very easy to feel.

## THE EXTERIOR: FOR ALL SEASONS

The private walled garden of Viento de Ladera is the true heart of the house. Designed to be enjoyed in January as much as in August.

The heated pool, long and dark-watered, is available 365 days a year. With its sliding cover, the water is always ready. You decide when to jump in.

The covered chill out area, with sofas, a rustic log table and lanterns, is the place where afternoons stretch without anyone deciding to end them. For aperitifs, long after-lunch conversations or simply doing nothing.

The outdoor dining area under the pergola presides over summer meals — and spring, autumn and winter ones too, when the Castilian sun allows it, which is more often than you'd expect. Barbecue, sun loungers by the pool, a hammock on the porch and a swing under the fig tree complete an exterior where children find their space and adults find theirs.

Century-old fig tree, holm oak, climbing plants, aromatic herbs and potted flowers create a living environment that changes with the seasons. Plenty of light in winter. Plenty of shade in summer. Always silence.

## THE INTERIOR: SPACE, LIGHT AND CHARACTER

The entire house is on one floor. No stairs, no barriers, no complications.

The living and dining room of over forty square metres is the centre of indoor life. Open to the panoramic kitchen, with a large window to the garden that fills every corner with light. A large table for twelve for long meals. Sofas with chaise longue for the after-dinner conversations that never end. Board game area, children's corner and television for when the plan is simply to stay inside.

The three bedrooms are spacious, quiet and separated from the living area — so that rest is real rest. Each one decorated with an eclectic and personal touch, mixing rustic with the unexpected. No two alike.

The architecture speaks for itself: high ceilings with original wooden trusses, stone walls with lime mortar and traditional Segovian Arabic tile roof. A historic building adapted for 21st century comfort, without giving up its soul.

## FUENTEMILANOS: A TOWN WITH A SECRET

There is something special about the sky over Fuentemilanos. The local airfield is one of the most active in Castilla for glider flying. When the wind rises up the hillside and creates perfect thermals, the gliders climb to incredible heights and glide through the sky from thermal to thermal. The views of the Sierra de Guadarrama and the Segovian plateau from above are a contrast you won't forget. If you've always wanted to fly, here you can.

And if you prefer to keep your feet on the ground: Segovia city centre ten minutes away, with its Roman Aqueduct, its Alcázar and the best roast suckling pig in the world. The Guadarrama National Park for hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. La Granja de San Ildefonso and its gardens. The airfield for glider flying. The fields of Castile for getting wonderfully lost.
