John and Marian invite you to rent this 300 year old farm property 'Chestnut Cottage' which is located on the McDonald farm in Lusmagh, Banagher, Co. Offaly only 1 km from the Shannon River. This property is Bord Failte (Irish Tourist Board) approved. It has been the original home of the McDonald family for generations. The Chestnut Cottage has been carefully restored, keeping as much of the house's 'Old World' character as possible while adding all modern comforts. It is located near the main farm, in a beautiful farm garden with an orchard.

The Chestnut Cottage is in the Galway / Offaly area, three miles from the popular river town of Banagher in Co. Offaly. The large bridge across the Shannon County Galway River opens the way to visiting the West of Ireland. Banagher is famous for its Irish music pubs, river cruises, Bog walks and rail hikes, great fishing, (pike fishing is especially rewarding), excellent super markets and shops, restaurants and hotels. Most pubs serve really good food too.

We had a grand time at the Chestnut Cottage. John and Marian were so gracious and welcoming. The property was everything we had hoped for. A lovely Irish Cottage in the countryside. Will definitely go back again

If you like quiet country life style accommodation, then this an ideal place.. The hosts Marian and John are friendly snd kind hosts. The young children loved the cattle, tractors and the colorful beautiful flower garden.
