We booked this property last year with great expectations and after our 9 day stay it has exceeded everything we hoped for. Our host Isabella was the best and helped with recommendations and the little things that set this property apart from others in the area. I highly recommend this property and quaint little home to anyone visiting the Lucca area in the future.

The property gardens and being surrounded by the hills was absolutely everything you would want from a Tuscan getaway. Our stay here was lovely and Isabella was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing that threw me off a bit was the fact that we were told that we would have to pay for our energy usage upon check in by Isabella. This was never mentioned anywhere in our booking before hand, nor after we booked, so to be told on the day of checking in was a surprise. The money was paid in cash to Isabella and no receipt was provided. It was not a big charge as we were barely at the house most days and being that Isabella was so accommodating in helping us retrieve one of our lost luggage we did not question it, and just paid her the €32 she charged. Other than this the house is very beautiful and a major plus for anyone who likes quiet, relaxing holidays. told that

We had an amazing time at Isabella's beautiful house! We couldn't have wished for a better vacation and hope to stay longer the next time! Isabella was a truly helpful, kind and generous host and we are very thankful. We are a family of four with two kids (aged 7 and 4) and the property was ideal for our family. The fact that the garden was fenced in was also perfect, so we didn't have to worry about the kids wandering off. The kids loved sleeping in the bunk bed, everything was very clean and nice, and the kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed. The views of the surrounding mountains were breathtaking and the whole scene was very serene and beautiful, everything was calm and it is truly a place where you can relax. (Despite this, the town of Lucca was only 15 minutes away by car, so the location is just perfect). There are two designated dining places in the garden, which was perfect, we enjoyed all our meals outside. There are mosquito screens on all the windows, so you can leave them open through the night without worrying about the bugs coming in, which was nice. Plenty of bed linen and towels and a washing machine, which is always helpful when you're traveling with kids! We can't recommend Isabella's place enough and definitely hope to come back one day!

This will be a very dull read! It's our third stay here and it just gets better and better! It feels like home but in one of the most lovely parts of beautiful Toscana. Nothing is missing from the house that you'd need and Isabella just keeps adding super 'extras'. Stay here and I can guarantee that you will have a beautiful and memorable experience, and I'll bet that you'll return!

Well, I left a very full review last year, in which I said that we were already booking for 2023. What can I add? The place is every bit as good as it was, Isabella is a delightful host, it can't be faulted. There's even a new Smart TV which enabled us to watch some stuff that we'd brought with us on laptop and Netflix. It's a dream place to enjoy one of the most lovely parts of Tuscany.

We loved our stay at the Bricks Oven. Isabella is a fantastic host! She was excellent at helping us order a taxi and provided lots of information to help us explore the area. The place itself is set in a pretty Olive grove and has views of the surrounding hills and glimpses down the valley to Lucca. We found the bed a little uncomfortable but everything was great other than that.

The property was very nice. As much or more than expected. Central location works well as hub for day trips. Host was personable and very gracious. Cooking facility and equipment was adequate. After the hassle-and-bustle of the first 2 legs of our vacation (Rome and Amalfi), it was refreshing to be hosted by Isabella in her wonderful Brick Oven accommodations; the fresh air, birds, and overall ambiance, and the hostess with the mostest, were all amazing. My husband and I spent 4 nights at The Brick Oven. The setting is lovely with a comfortable yard, privacy and gorgeous views of the mountains in the background. The inside was also comfortable with the essential amenities. Both Isabella and her mom ( who shared her delicious peaches and tomatos) were very welcoming, gracious and helpful. Isabella shared information about the surrounding area as well as suggestions for towns to visit in Tuscany after our stay. Florence and Pisa are about an hour away and you must visit Lucca the neighboring town. Suggestions: Do have a working GPS! We had some difficulty finding Matraia and Isabella's mom met us. The town's small market has basics but there is a larger one 10 minutes away. Would recommend the restaurant Severino's right in Matraia- excellent food with a gorgeous view from the terrace. Enjoy! And thank you again Isabella for your help and suggestions.

Isabella was the perfect host, and the Bricks Oven a perfect place to explore Tuscany, our first visit to Italy and Isabella suggested places to visit and what was on in our stay, having our dog with us we were able to to let her off the lead at the cottage as it was very safe, if your dog is small enough to go in a shopping trolley then Carrefour is your place, they just ask for some ID until you return it, the first time we have been able to take our dog into a supermarket! the only problem we had was with the mosquitoes in the grass, and Isabella wouldn’t be able to help with that !,! But if she could, she would have. The air conditioning in the house was fantastic as it got up to 34 degrees on a couple of days, Lucca was a short drive away and we went there on several occasions, it was a lovely walled town and although a tourist town wasn’t packed , we found Pisa extremely busy and although seeing the leaning tower etc was great were pleased to leave. The countryside was beautiful and we took many scenic routes. A visit to the marble mines at Carrera was amazing, the journey through the tunnels and steep hills to get there somewhat scary, we wondered at times if we were on the right road ! My husband went on the tour and enjoyed it , but said that I may have had to shut my eyes at times on the corners...... We wanted to get a feel of Tuscany and the Bricks Oven allowed us to do just that, thank you again Isabella for being such a wonderful host.

We spent two weeks in The Bricks's oven and had a marvellous time. The house and the garden was perfect for us with our dog, the garden is beautiful with a spectacular view and a fence that allowed the dog to be unleashed. In a walking distance there are a couple of restaurants which are very familiar and serves good and typical Tuscany food. The best part of our stay was Isabella, the landlady, who cared for us and gave us the very best service.

my wife and i wanted to spend 3 weeks just enjoying tuscany and isabella's the bricks's oven was perfect. the house is called the brick's oven because it was once used to cure the bricks used in building the local villas. the property is as seen in the pictures no surprises. the house is located in an olive grove not too far from town but far enough to be tranqual. food at the local resturants was great. the bricks's oven is convient to florance, lucca, pisa and cannes was not too far. the best part of the stay was gettig to know isabella and her family. thay are the most charming local family. and learning of the local area from them was the highlight of the trip.

Das Haus war sauber, desinfiziert und enthielt alles, was man zum Kochen braucht. Die Betten waren gut, die Bettwäsche sauber und schön drapiert, ebenfalls die Handtücher im Bad. Der Garten ist wunderschön, gut in Schuss mit vielen Blumen und Oliven-, Zitronen- und anderen Obstbäumen. Die Vermieterin ist sehr diskret, man benutzt das gleiche Einfahrtstor, ihr Haus ist aber ein ganzes Stück entfernt. Die Lage ist klasse, kurz entfernt ist Lucca, die schönste Stadt der Toskana. Wir würden das Haus jederzeit wieder mieten.

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in Matraia. Wat een fantastisch plekje om tot rust te komen. Veel ruimte om het huis in een schitterende omgeving. Prachtige fruitbomen. De werkelijkheid is nog mooier dan de foto’s weergeven. Een heel hartelijke eigenaresse waar we ons welkom voelden. Beantwoordde snel onze vragen en had leuke tips over de omgeving. Goede “uitvalsbasis” voor tripjes naar de steden. Al met al een plekje om nooit te vergeten. Heel hartelijk dank voor alles!

Das Haus liegt traumhaft mitten in den Bergen zwischen Olivenbäumen. Es hat einen eigenen, wunderschönen Garten, der komplett umzäunt ist- ideal für unseren Hund. Isabella und ihre ganze Familie ist super gastfreundlich und hilfsbereit. In der unmittelbaren Nähe gibt es einige hervorragende Trattorias/Osterias und man kann von hier gut nach Pisa, Florenz, ans Meer etc. fahren. Wir (2 Erwachsene, 2 Kinder und 1 Hund) haben uns hier sehr wohl gefühlt und können das Haus uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen! Ein perfekter Ort um die Toskana zu erkunden!

Geweldige week gehad in deze accommodatie. Het huisje ligt in de bergen nabij Lucca op zo'n 500 mtr hoogte. Het is goed bereikbaar en beschikt over een grote tuin met veel schaduw en twee terrassen. Het is voorzien van twee airco units welke we niet nodig gehad hebben ondanks het mooie weer. We werden verwelkomd door de Isabella met een heerlijke fruitmand uit eigen tuin. Het contact met de gastvrouw verliep zeer prettig. Aardige behulpzame mensen. Ze wonen zelf een paar honderd meter verderop maar daar merk je verder niets van. Kortom een geweldige locatie voor wie van rust ruimte en groen houdt.

Should I write the truth? Should I really write the truth ??? Because then you all, really all just want to book this house and it will be fully booked forever. :) Ok, seriously: Isabella, her family and the house earn more than 5 stars. We were satisfied more than 110% during our 3-week vacation in this great house, which left nothing to be desired. Even with our two dogs everything worked great, they were well accommodated there and have felt very comfortable. Isabella is a lovely and super friendly owner and has always looked after us great and asked if everything is ok. And her family is so adorable, her wonderful father has brought us from time to time fruit from their own garden! All in all an unforgettable beautiful holiday in a great house with a very lovely family. 5+ stars!

Geweldige ligging. Prachtig uitzicht.Rustig gelegen, en toch alle voorzieningen zoals prima supermarkt op 10 minuten rijafstand. Zeer gunstig gelegen om al het moois in de mooie omgeving te verkennen. Huis ligt aan weg langs de wijnroute. Alles wat je ook maar denkt nodig te hebben, is aanwezig in huisje. Zelfs camera bewaking, en een poort met toegang naar oprit van huisje, die automatisch opend, via afstandsbediening. De tuin rondom huis is afgeschermd, dus je hond kan er heerlijk veilig en vrij rondlopen.

Die "alte Ziegelbrennerei" ist ein neues Gebäude auf den Mauern der alten Ziegelbrennerei, die die umliegenden Villen mit Ziegeln versorgt hat. Mit viel Liebe zum Detail wurde das Gebäude wieder aufgebaut und gestaltet. Das solide, schöne Podest innen erlaubt es, die Architektur des Hauses zu sehen und trotzdem auf der zweiten Etage genügend Platz für ein Doppelbett und ein weiteres Einzelbett zu haben. (Etwas skurill die Beleuchtungssituation und die Schalter im Obergeschoss, aber das sind Kleinigkeiten). Unten im "Anbau" ist das zweite Schlafzimmer mit solidem Doppelbett. Hiervon geht das einfache, aber funktionale Bad mit Bidet und Dusche ab. Die Küchenzeile ist mit allen Notwendkigkeiten ausgestattet, der Gasherd richtig gut. Man hat keine getrennten Schlafzimmer und keine zwei Bäder und also muss man sich schon mögen und kennen, um dort zu wohnen. Aber: Für eine Familie ist dies eine schöne Bleibe mit allem, was man braucht. Draußen sind diverse Olivenbäume, die noch auf dem Grundstück stehen; es ist wundervoll im Halbschatten des Olivenbaumes über das kleine Tal auf den kleinen "campanile" zu blicken, oder direkt über das Tal und, bei gutem Wetter, die Türme von Lucca zu sehen... Zwei Terrassen bieten genügend Platz, um schön zu essen; Schatten gibt es bei Bedarf genug. Die Lage des Grundstückes ist zwar unweit der Straße zwischen Marlia und Matraia , aber dies ist nur zu den Stoßzeiten auffällig; die meiste Zeit ist es ruhig. Die Gesamtlage ist geeignet, um natürlich Lucca, aber auch Pisa, Viareggio oder Carrara innerhalb einer Stunde zu besuchen. Und wer mag, fährt schön kurvig durch die Berge und besucht Pinnochio;) Die Vermieterin ist superlieb, immer ansprechbar und verlässlich. Wir haben unser Salz und Pfeffer da gelassen - es wäre schön, wenn sich solche Gebräuche auch in Italien durchsetzen würden;)! Empfehlenswert!
