We stayed here for a month with our young family. The house has charm and the area is lovely, but our experience fell far below expectations. Before you even unpack, expect to be handed a poorly written legal contract (sent separately from Vrbo) and, on arrival, a list of fines. For example: aircon under 26C? 100 fine. (Apologies, I like to sleep at 20C – maybe that’s abnormal.) You’ll also get a tour of things you must not touch… which is quite a lot.The listing oversold key features: Wi-Fi only worked in a couple of rooms; aircon was in a few bedrooms, not “throughout the house” as implied. Several items simply gave up under the weight of age—stair panel detached, pool gate screw fell off, umbrella broke—yet we were billed for them. The host’s manner was unexpectedly confrontational. She entered the property with little notice, and her aggressive tone—particularly towards my wife—left us feeling unwelcome. We left two days early.Post-stay, the charges kept coming: a decade-old bin lid (40% of its new price), a coffee machine that never worked (and we told her on day one), part of a staircase, and my personal favourite—“excess energy use” (we weren’t mining Bitcoin, just left a couple of lights on).Beautiful area, but between the hidden rules, surprise fines, and the host’s behaviour, this was not a premium stay. Proceed with caution

Pascale's house was one of the best VRBO stays we have ever had. We stayed for 6 weeks, and it was heartbreaking to have to leave! Honestly, I could live in this elegant house fulltime. The photos on the listing do not do it justice. it is obvious that this is a house that is a 'home', and it has been lovingly updated and cared for over its lifetime (she estimates it's 200yrs old!). It is large and well laid-out enough to provide large families or several couples (like our group) lots of space and privacy when needed. The kitchen is huge by French standards, and very well-equipped. The garden is a true sanctuary - again, the photos do not do it justice. The unheated pool was too cold for our use the first couple weeks in May, but the temperatures soared in June and the pool became perfect - and very well used! Pascale was also very responsive - a very gracious host (merci!). Finally, the location could not be more perfect. No more than 5 minutes walk to the village centre, yet far enough away to avoid the meyhem that is the Wednesday morning market (one of the best in Provence). St Remy is also the perfect town for a long stay in the South of France. It's a beautiful medieval village, yet large enough to have everything you need - including many exceptional restaurants and bars. The hiking, ebiking, road cycling and mountainbiking in the area cannot be beat - an outdoor enthusiast's paradise! We would not hesitate to stay in this house again, and hope to do so!
