About this house rental

Welcome to Bali House, where the rain forest meets the beach in beautiful Manuel Antonio! As the ONLY luxury rental property truly on Playa Espadilla (the main beach in Manuel Antonio) the Bali House is a 5 bedroom 7 bath Balinese Villa nestled into the rain forest just steps away from the ocean. This exotic tropical villa is on a 44-acre private rainforest preserve bordering one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. Our location is perfect for guests who love the beach and want to maximize their beach time. The 44 acre rainforest preserve has several paths, streams, wildlife and an organic garden. Most rental homes in Manuel Antonio are perched high in the hills and their guests must drive or walk down steep hills to reach public beach access areas. At the Bali House, you are at the beach. You simply walk down our garden path and you are at the private section of the beach in 1 minute! Come and enjoy our exotic hideaway in the most desirable location that Manuel Antonio has to offer - in the rain forest, yet on the beach.

Our onsite concierge and staff live in the other two homes nearby on the property but out of sight.

About The Bali House: The Bali House was designed by Balinese architect Ketut Arthana. Arthana is internationally recognized for his insightful work in designing luxury residences, tropical resorts and spas throughout Asia, Hawaii, North America and Europe including the elegant Puri Woolandari hotel in Bali, one of the Small Leading Hotels of the World. The villa was initially designed and framed in Bali from Indonesian ironwood. It was disassembled and shipped to Costa Rica along with all the furnishings and finishes and it was carefully reconstructed by a team of Balinese craftsmen.

Villa Staff: The Bali House is staffed by a manager/concierge, housekeeping, gardener, daily pool service, and maintenance staff. Your Concierge will be happy to arrange transportation from the International Airport to the house, reserve tours, hire a private chef, a masseuse, or anything else you need during your stay.

We had a wonderful stay here. It could not have been any better. Maria was amazing. The quite of the seclusion but quick and easy access to the beach is perfect here. Our group is already looking at dates for 2027.

Bali House is the most incredible property. Our family will continue to hold it up as one of the most special times of our lives. The house, pool, jungle, beach access and of course...the occasional visits by the monkeys delighted us all. Fernando, Maria and staff were very attentive.

The property is fantastic. You are in the rain forest and on the beach at the same time.

We visited in June 2018. The house, pool and setting are beautiful— it is an uplifting experience to stay here. We had a family of 10; 6 adults and 4 children ages 8-11. Maria Z. was our concierge and we emailed many times before the the trip to set up activities. She spoke perfect English, made restaurant reservations for us, called taxi, etc. It was a great help to have her make a list in advance to have Fernando (her father) stock the house with basic groceries. He put it on a tab, and gave us the receipt (no markup). He is the maintenance fellow easily available by phone. His wife did the cooking with Maria doing the setup, serving and cleanup. The helper was Andrea, a younger person who cleaned the kitchen, washed clothes, and made us 3 kinds of fresh fruit each morning. We chose to eat at the Bali House on alternate nights. The cost of each meal was about $28 per person. (Maria decided not charge for our granddaughter, saying she did not eat enough) I paid her cash USD each time just to keep up with it. For us, eating in was about the same as the cost of eating out and was so easy. Her hors d’oeurves were fantastic. We often had lunch the next day from leftovers. The pool was perfect. Many monkey visits to the mango tree on the deck. The beach about 150 yards down a gentle slope on a concrete walkway with bamboo railings, through what is essentially your own little private jungle. Unlock the loungers held by a chain, and unlock the gate (code for both). Easy. Beach was essentially our own—just a few people walk by, and some on horseback. Walk down the beach toward the national park a half mile and there are bars and restaurants, and you arrange the parasailing directly from the beach. There were no “beach toys” at the house as there were in some reviews. We rented a surfboard and boogie boards from a place on the beach and kept them just inside the gate. From the back of the house (the side away from the ocean), it is a very steep walk up a concrete driveway, maybe 200 yards up to the main road. We like to walk, but the main road is narrow with very little room for walkers, but you do get used to it.Taxi fare was usually about $15 US plus tip. The drivers were very accommodating, and would take us to the grocery, wait on us, then bring us back.Tipping was at the end, suggested $10 per room per day, so $50 per day. Internet was good, faster than I expected. The entire experience was a joy. We couldn't be happier at our choice.
