The villa is very nice, very clean and well equipped. Easy access to Biarritz, Bayonne, St Jean and San Sebastien so a great location to explore all that SW France has to offer. Lovely baker 10 mins away and an excellent supermarket 15 mins away. The owner's husband kindly drove to both to show us how to get to them.
However, despite paying the not insignificant additional cleaning charge, we were given a long lecture on arrival on keeping the kitchen clean, the BBQ clean and putting every item of kitchenware back in its correct position. We would have kept the place clean in any event but the lecture was over the top and set the wrong tone.
We also paid extra for sheets and towels. Sheets were fine although pricey but the pillows were terrible. The towels per room came as one large and one small towel which was hopeless for two adults and the price was outrageous, particularly given that they were old and hard - cheaper to buy locally and dump them. And we never got the kitchen tea towel or oven glove that we requested. There were no other creature comforts - no soap, shampoo or other amenities, not even one square of loo roll.
The separate contract that the owner required included a clause for a two thousand euro security deposit. We were quite taken aback when we got there as it turned out that this needed to paid in cash, rather than a swipe on a card. This was on top of needing to produce evidence of travel insurance for third party liability. To be fair there was no problem with getting the deposit back at the end of our stay (the BBQ was gleaming!) but we did not really need a big wad of euros at the end of our holiday
Finally, the wifi was at best weak and for quite a lot of the time not really working at all.
We enjoyed our week there and in the end saw all these as owner idiosyncracies. By all means go and stay there but I recommend you take your own towels, your own loo roll and a well stuffed wallet
