About this house rental
Welcome to our paradise. Located in the heart of the Netherlands, with Amsterdam, Utrecht, Gouda, Delft, and Oudewater nearby, we offer you peace and space. How wonderful is it to sit by the water, soak up the sun, or take in the panoramic view of the meadows?
Or would you rather go for a paddle in a canoe or row your own boat through the beautiful nature reserve? You can do that here!
Next to the house, you’ll find your own natural swimming area and a lawn for sunbathing. And don’t forget your own free parking spot for your car. Since there’s a terrace on three sides of the house, you’ll always have a wonderful place to sit—exactly where you want to be, whether in the sun or in the shade.
You step out onto the terrace through the French doors. On the terrace, there’s a garden table for 6 people for outdoor meals and lounge chairs to enjoy nature. And, of course, a charcoal grill.
The rowboat is waiting for you at the dock. The rowboat is reserved just for you and included in the rental price.
In our pasture, there are ducks and sheep. Inside the house, in addition to a spacious living room with an open kitchen (oven, microwave, dishwasher, etc.), there are 3 bedrooms—one with a sink—and a beautiful bathroom with a shower, sink, and wall-mounted toilet. There’s also an utility room with a Miele washer and dryer. The house is surrounded by a large private garden. Our pasture is home to ducks and sheep.
If you’d like, you can rent our bed linens and towels. The beds will then be made for you upon your arrival. We charge an additional fee of €25.00 per person for this service.

You may have read about it in the newspaper: The rental tax will increase from 9% to 21% in 2026. Unfortunately, I had to factor this into our prices.
That’s why our rates are higher than in previous years.
Breukelen has its own train station where you can park for free. The train takes you to the center of Amsterdam in less than half an hour.
The area around Breukelen is beautiful and has a rich history. The Vecht River plays an important role in this. As early as the Golden Age, around the year 1600, wealthy merchants discovered the beauty of the river. The merchants, who made a fortune trading with Asia, built beautiful country estates with tea houses along the Vecht. Many of these country estates have been preserved. Cycling along the banks of the Vecht offers a beautiful view of these historic buildings. If you’d like to combine cycling with sailing, we recommend the “bike boat.” Search for the website here:
There are many bike paths around Breukelen that take you along the rivers, through the polders, or into beautiful nature reserves. Don’t miss the bike route around the Loosdrecht Lakes or through the Tienhoven Nature Reserve to Hilversum. Search for bike routes in Breukelen at:
Do you like to play golf? You can do that, too—just a few kilometers away, in the quaint town of Loenen aan de Vecht, there’s a beautiful 81-hole golf course. For more information:
Finally, we’d like to recommend a visit to De Haar Castle in Haarzuilen. This castle was rebuilt in 1892 on the ruins of the old castle, and both the castle and the castle gardens are regularly open to visitors:

Very nice accommodation in an incredibly peaceful environment. The boat provided allows lovely outings. The hosts are pleasant and available. Easy to reach Utrecht or Amsterdam.

What a fantastic property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at ‘De Duif’, a great home, well equipped and in the midst of amazing nature! We loved travelling up the canal and to the lake in the rowing boat and also enjoyed day trips to Amsterdam and Utrecht! We would love to come back! More Brits should visit here! :)

We travelled as a couple with our one-year-old son. The accommodation is right on the water in a very quiet and scenic area. The hosts gave us a friendly welcome and were helpful.
Unfortunately, you can't get close to the accommodation by car and there is only a path made of wood shavings to get there. For people with heavy luggage or disabilities, this information may be helpful in advance. Overall, the accommodation could be renovated or repaired in some places. For example, the floor is broken and torn up in many places. There was also some mould in the shower.
Regardless of the things we criticised, we liked the accommodation. It was tastefully furnished and many everyday items were already available. The only thing that irritated me was that we had to pay extra for the bed linen.
Unfortunately, after a few days, both our son and a short time later we got bite marks and a rash, which strongly indicated that there were bed bugs in the accommodation, so we left a day early. Compensation was refused.
Due to the last mentioned points, I can only recommend the accommodation with some reservations.
