There are many vacation homes around the world, but if you’re looking for something extraordinary, Dean Lake Cottage in Canada is the place for you.
Furnished with great attention to detail, in a secluded location right on a lake, and with its unique architecture, it’s certainly the perfect place to relax and unwind. Your vacation can begin right at home.
The Dean Lake Cottage, spanning over 180 m² and featuring a southwestern country style, stands out above all for its high level of functionality and well-thought-out layout. The comprehensive amenities are top-notch (including a whirlpool tub, Miele washer and dryer, two LCD TVs with satellite TV, a DVD player, a microwave, a dishwasher, a Weber grill, a KitchenAid, a canoe, and a kayak, etc.).
The house has a total of three bedrooms, two living rooms, and a large terrace spread over two floors. In the comfortable, open-concept living-dining-kitchen area on the first floor, there is a wood-burning stove for the colder seasons. The second living room, located on the first floor, features a large LCD TV and a Dolby Surround sound system.
A definite highlight is the 90 m² terrace, which wraps around the house on three sides and is largely covered. This means you have direct access to the terrace and a view of the lake from a total of 5 rooms on the first floor.
Another unique feature is the walkway that leads directly from the terrace to the lake. A deck has been built right by the water. Ceiling fans have been installed in some rooms for hot days. Canoes, kayaks, charcoal grills, bicycles, fishing gear, and a comprehensive guidebook with plenty of information and dining recommendations are available free of charge. You can set out on many activities right from the house (see Page 10). Our guests really appreciate the many trails and seating areas. The sunsets on the Sunset Trail are unforgettable.
You can start many activities right from the house. There’s plenty to discover on the large property and in the immediate vicinity.
WALKS
In total, there are nearly 3 km of private trails on the property. Explore the area.
FISHING
There are plenty of fishing opportunities here. Be sure to obtain a fishing license in advance. “Fishing License” B. in Caledonia.
SHORT HIKE (about 4 km)
Walk along “Bayview Road” to Moosepit Road, and from there, return to the house.
SHORT HIKE (10 km)
Walk to the Medway Rapids in New Albany.
LONG HIKE AROUND LAKE TUPPER (14 km)
A scenic trail around Lake Tupper. Enjoy nature. Halfway along the trail, there’s a picnic bench and public access to the lake for swimming. Take a break before continuing on the rest of the trail.
Kayaking and Canoeing
Explore Lake Dean and Lake McGowan by kayak and canoe. In total, four lakes are connected and accessible directly from the house.
TIP: Go kayaking and canoeing on the private island belonging to the property. A large, comfortable picnic table invites you to linger here.
SWIMMING
Dean Lake offers plenty of great spots for swimming.
EVENINGS AND NIGHTS
Settle in comfortably at home and gaze at the starry sky. On clear nights, you can even see the Milky Way.

Our group of Mom, Dad, 3 kids [23,21,17] & 90 yr old Grandma had a great time hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing & relaxing at Dean's Lake Cottage. The property was just as described, extremely well-equipped & very clean.
Having access to 3 kayaks & a canoe was awesome!
Our sons loved exploring all the islands in the lake & they took their gear by canoe to camp on one of the islands.
Accessing trails directly from the property was very convenient. We were pleasantly surprised to find wild blueberries, raspberries & blackberries within an arm's reach of the trails & enjoyed them with our waffles (yes - they even had a waffle maker!).
The setting was very peaceful. There were so many spots to watch the wildlife & lake - the upper deck of the cottage, the dock & benches thoughtfully placed throughout the property.
We heard & saw bullfrogs in the blossoming lillypads, enjoyed the steady "buzz" of hummingbirds at the feeder, watched & listened to the loons, & had daily visits from a duck family. The only wildlife that were scarce were the fish. Dad & daughter didn't have much success catching fish, but they enjoyed trying.
Friendly property manager Rick stopped by & we enjoyed his visit. Owner Stefan was very responsive to questions before our trip & also called a few times during our stay to check on us.
This is an fantastic place to relax & reconnect with nature. Our family had a great time enjoying the property & our time together!

We stayed one week at Dean Lake a d thoroughly enjoyed our time. The cottage is nestled into a classic Canadian scene of natural beauty. Quiet and peaceful Dean Lake is the perfect place to get away from the noise of daily living. It is also centrally located in the province which allows for easy drives to Annapolis Royal, Lunenburg Mahone Bay, the Annapolis Valley and beyond.
We also want to emphasize how much we appreciated Rick , the property manager. He is attentive, warm, funny and informative. Rick is unique but we felt this same friendly welcome throughout our Nkva Scotian travels.
Stefan, the property owner has created a very special experience and we hope one to return to his home on Dean Lake.

A newly constructed lakefront home with high end luxury and convenience while maintaining that cottage feeling. Stunning deck to watch sunsets and listen the the Loons. Stefan was an excellent host and was polite courteous and helpful during the entire experience. My kids caught frogs and the abundance of small fish ensured they each walked away with memories of their first catch. Lastly when you arrive you will be greeted by a wonderful fella named Rick who will show you around and be there if you should need something. It is a great spot to reconnect with family and relax. Thanks again!!!

This stunning property delivered incredible comfort and ease in the midst of a spectacular natural setting. The house is absolutely beautiful - warm, inviting, beautifully decorated and well appointed. We had everything we needed and more! And it is nestled in the midst of the most serene and breathtaking scenery. We loved exploring the paths, which were so well explained in the detailed welcome package. And Rick was a great host, always there if we had questions - a great ambassador for Nova Scotia. Can't wait to come back in the summer!
