Cottage in Lower Saxony, Germany

About this cottage rental
The approximately 4-meter-high ceilings on the ground floor, along with the furnishings, give the space a castle-like atmosphere that seems to transport you back in time. Nevertheless, you’ll find Wi-Fi and broadband internet access, a landline phone, a TV, and a CD player with a selection of movies and music. An old tube radio provides great sound from the loft, which leads from the study to the “crawl-through library” and serves as a play area for children and avid readers during rainy weather.
There’s a phone up there and another one in the living room. Calls to the German landline are free; all other calls will be listed on my “phone account” and billed to you at the end of your vacation. A low door leads from the study into the living room, which features a sitting area and a TV. Both rooms are connected to the hallway—which leads to the kitchen—via tall double doors.
The kitchen, which features a freestanding gas stove, includes a dining area with an extendable table large enough to seat six people. There is an oven at eye level, a microwave, a refrigerator, and a small dishwasher. Dishes and cutlery are provided for ten people. Pots, pans, a wok, and many small kitchen utensils are easy to find.
There is plenty of table linens, napkins, dish towels, and hand towels in the cupboard.
Behind the kitchen is a utility room with a washer and dryer, a first-aid kit, a hot water bottle, an iron and ironing board, and access to a terrace in front of the kitchen window. Behind the utility room is another bathroom with a shower and toilet.
All windows on the lower floor are sliding windows, face south, and are equipped with fly screens. The windows are knee-high, making them very cozy to sit by. Blankets and pillows for these favorite spots can be found all over the sofas and armchairs.
The living room, study, and kitchen have hardwood floors. The hallway is tiled.
On the upper floor, you’ll find a closet with bed linens and towels.
All beds are made upon your arrival; guests may choose their own towels from a closet of their choice. Next is a small bathroom with a sink and toilet. The next room is a bedroom with two separate beds: one bed measuring 1 m x 2 m and one bed measuring 0.90 m x 2 m. Next is a single room with a bed measuring 1 m x 2 m, a closet, and a small table, followed by the largest bedroom with a closet, a dresser, and two beds placed together, each measuring 1 m x 2 m.
At the end of the hallway, there is another bathroom with a sink, a large bathtub, and a toilet. A hair dryer is provided, and all bathrooms and toilets are stocked with toilet paper, tissues, and soap.
The upper floor has laminate flooring, and the bathrooms have linoleum.
The windows in the bedrooms have screens and offer a view of the park-like garden and beyond into the forest.
The property is separated from the forest on all sides by a moat (Graft), and the tall rhododendron bushes to the left and right of the lawn allow you to move about the garden with almost complete privacy.
On the terrace in front of the kitchen, you’ll find a large round wooden table with white iron chairs, or four large matching wooden chairs with cushions that are otherwise scattered throughout the garden. Additionally, there are three lounge chairs with cushions and an easily movable plastic lounge chair.
Under the stairs is a box containing several board games.
Upon request, I can handle your initial grocery shopping—you can send me a list via email.
Pets are not permitted in the Orangery out of consideration for guests with allergies.
Hage is a climatic health resort and charges a visitor’s tax of €2.10 per day for adults from March 15 through October 31, which I will add to your final bill along with any other additional services. Children and teenagers under the age of 18 are exempt from paying the visitor’s tax. The visitor’s card offers you a whole range of benefits and discounts during your stay, which are detailed in an information sheet.
I will personally give you a tour of the house upon your arrival.
I would be delighted if this description inspires you to visit.
You will always be welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine, a fresh cake, and a bouquet of flowers.
