In the high season, the bus is even preferable because it is more difficult to find a parking space in the old town. The beach is about 1.5 kilometers away, but the way back is uphill. Otherwise, a car would be helpful for shopping and if you want to explore the area (Ronda, Casares, Tarifa, Gibraltar etc.).
