Welcome to our cosy holiday home, just 400 metres from the beach! Situated on the picturesque southern shore of Lake Balaton, in Fonyód, Hungary, our holiday home offers space for 5 to 7 people on a spacious living area of 90 m² plus a covered terrace. Perfect for families or small groups who want to experience an unforgettable holiday close to the water.
Inside, the house has a fully equipped kitchen that leaves nothing to be desired: A gas hob, fridge, German coffee machine and microwave are ready to fulfil culinary needs. It also has a cosy dining room with a colour TV, two double bedrooms and a triple bedroom, providing enough space for a good night's sleep. The interior is rounded off by a bathroom with a bathtub and two separate WCs - all at ground level and easily accessible.
The outdoor area is characterised by a well-tended garden plot with a lawn, which invites you to linger and relax. A large terrace with garden furniture promises cosy hours outdoors, while your vehicle is safely parked in the private car park on the property. Here you can unwind and enjoy the beautiful panorama of the mountains and Lake Balaton.
Fonyód, the location of our holiday home, is known for its beautiful location and free beach baths. The town is conveniently located between Keszthely, Siófok and Nagykanizsa. Twice a week, the town offers the largest weekly markets on the southern shore of the lake and is only a 20-minute boat trip away from the famous Badacsony wine-growing region. Sports and cultural activities such as surfing, sailing, hiking, cycling and excursions to thermal baths and the Puszta make Fonyód the ideal holiday destination.

It looks like nobody expected us to arrive without a car, so I am writing a few words about what you can expect! First of all: we had a very good impression of the Hungarian railways, and Fonyod is a stop also for IC trains. Walking from the house to the railway station is about 10min.Right behind that railway station is the closest beach: about 600m from the house. You pay a little entry fee and you are in some kind of "beach fun park" with all sorts of amusement for children and others.If you just want a nice beach, with good infrastructure, but without that "fun park bustle", you walk along some "panorama path" to another beach, further to the SW. That one is about 1 km away, 15-20 min walking.On top of that, you can go for little walks in all directions, like to the two hill tops with lookouts (towers - the one being closed for revision now). Or you take the boat to Badascony and go for more extended walks. Or you take the train that easily and frequently brings you to every location along the S coast of Balaton.One good thing with the trains: They are not expensive, and you can buy your tickets still at a counter in the railway station, so you do not need to fiddle around only with machines and apps - a big advantage if you are a foreigner.The house itself is nice, you can spend time either inside or in the garden, in the sun or in the shadow. If you want you can use a grill or a little brick-built fire place there.
